We won The Traitors as Faithful but this year they’re doomed – and the winning Traitor isn’t who you think it will be

WHAT does it take to beat a Traitor in the hit reality TV show taking the country by storm?

According to those who did it in the first series of BBC One’s The Traitors in 2022, the best plan is . . .  have no plan.

Meryl Williams, 27, Aaron Evans, 26, and Hannah Byczkowski, 33, uncovered Wilfred Webster, 30, as a Traitor in series one, winning just over £100,000 between them.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Aaron says: “I went in there with a game plan and then by the end of the first day, I was like, ‘I can’t do this, it’s too stressful’, and forgot about all my tactics.

“So I was just being myself, and I think people kept me in because they felt sorry for me.”

The game sees Faithfuls and Traitors vie for a prize pot of up to £120,000.

The Faithfuls have to guess who is a Traitor and “banish” them, while the Traitors try to “murder” the Faithfuls one by one, the victims leaving the show.

The contestants then choose when to end the game.

If all remaining players are Faithfuls, they share the winnings. If any Traitor remains in the game, they take all the money.

The final three episodes of series two will air across consecutive nights from tonight.

While many get obsessed over the strategy needed to win, Meryl agrees that a hefty dose of luck is involved.

She says: “Everyone on social media kept calling me ‘clueless’, and I was. I genuinely had no idea what I was doing. I just went in there and naturally talked to everyone, made friends with everyone. I wasn’t taking it seriously, I was just having fun.

“I think when you go into something and have game plans and meticulous strategies, you’re going to go out sooner.”

While Aaron is now “skint” again and working on a boat, having given all his winnings to his mum to buy a house, Meryl has quit her job working in H&M customer service.

She says: “I went on a winter holiday to South Africa and I bought dogs.

“But I’ve had to keep a stash of money for mortgage, pet insurance and life.

“But the money has given me freedom, and I’m able to work in social media, which is amazing.”

Here, Meryl and Aaron take a look at the players left in, ranking them from least to most likely to win, while 2022 fan favourite Amanda Lovett shares her tips on how to survive as a treacherous Traitor.

  • The Traitors continues at 9pm tonight on BBC One.

8. Jasmine

A STRONG player, she has not been shy of voicing her opinions – despite often being wrong – throughout the series.

But her days are numbered and she won’t be making it to the final.

She was lucky to get this far as she was so close to being banished last week.

Fortunately for her, Charlotte got the chop instead.

But she’s likely to be next out.

7. Harry

TRAITOR Harry has played a blinder so far, but it seems he’s peaked too soon – and he may very well get himself banished now.

Jaz is on to him, having worked out that Harry knew Paul was a Traitor because he must also be one.

He’s becoming cocky, like Paul did at the end before he got voted out, and he’s revealed too much.

Everyone just needs to listen to Jaz.

6. Zack

MOST of the players think Zack is far too much of a loose cannon to ever be considered a Traitor, meaning the Traitors will probably want to murder him as soon as possible.

But he would have been a good choice for the Traitors to recruit to their team.

He’s so smart.

He’s one of our favourite players, throwing theories out left, right and centre – and, amazingly, most of the time getting them right.

5. Evie

SHE’S using the Meryl tactic of series one and being no threat to anyone and just keeping her head down.

If you stay under the radar, and get on with the Traitors, lots of people will always want to keep you on side, so it’s a good way to get to the end.

But there’s always a danger that if you go with the crowd too much you just get seen as a pawn in the game and end up murdered.

4. Mollie

MOLLIE is almost guaranteed to be the last of the women standing, especially if Harry makes it to the final too.

Like Wilfred did last year with the people he was closest to, Harry has kept her alongside him.

So she’s not likely to get murdered – and she’s not likely to get banished at the round table, either.

But having ignored red flags about Harry, despite knowing he lied, she is unlikely to end up winning.

3. Jaz

JAZ is so like Maddy from our series, constantly being right about who the Traitor is and constantly being ignored.

It must be so infuriating.

Now his pal Ross has been recruited as a Traitor, Ross may keep him on his side and protect him from murder.

1. Ross and Andrew

WE’RE going for a double traitor win.

The only way either of them is leaving is if fellow Traitor Harry turns on one of them, but it’s looking likely he’ll be banished sooner than them.

It seems easier to succeed as a Traitor if you’re recruited later on, because Andrew was a Faithful at the beginning and everyone knew that for certain after he was in the dungeon with former Traitors Paul and Ash.

They’re both very clever.

But let’s just see how Ross does in his new role tonight.
