My tiny home looks like an ordinary van from the outside but ‘dream’ design inside makes it perfect home for our family
A COUPLE built their perfect home for less than $50,000 and it comes on wheels so they can travel the country whilst living their dream.
Brittany Lojko and her partner Taylor Putman started their van life journey with a three-week road trip as friends.
However, it wasn't long until the freedom of travel along with the intimate van setting lured them into a romance and a desirable lifestyle that they have turned into a "dream."
"We’re inseparable and love the life we’ve built," Brittany, 30, told Whats The Jam.
"We are living our wildest dream and are extremely grateful to have met each other.
"We wouldn’t trade this for anything."
However, despite their delight at their nomadic lifestyle, Putman, 32, from New Hampshire has shared that it has not always been easy.
In 2021, the couple bought a 2014 Ram Promaster 3500 for just $25,000 and after 10 months of hard graft, they converted it into their home for a total of $45,000.
"I had to work 60 hours per week to get the funds and once I had the money to buy materials, I would get to work until I ran out of money again and start the process over," Putman explained.
"For me, it got difficult around the eight-month mark, as I just wanted to be done and living in the van."
Footage shared with the news outlet of the inside of the van reveals an almost traditional home setup.
There is a dining area, a traditional kitchen stove with an oven below, a sink, windows, a bed, and even solar panels on the roof.
When the pair finally completed the van, they had to face several issues that made the couple stronger.
On one occasion, the pair were left without a heater in -13F temperatures due to their exhaust pipe freezing up.
"Since it was so freezing and we were in the middle of nowhere, it was difficult," Putman said.
"We were both so cold and got testy with each other, and it was tense, definitely pushed us overboard, and it did make Brittany want to abandon van life for good – it was scary."
Alongside this, the pair have had to adjust to the lack of personal space that the van affords them after they both previously lived in house shares.
"It has [got its] challenges and when you need some space, it’s difficult to get," Putman explained, noting that they have become good communicators.
"But a lot of the times, when one of us is struggling and we don’t know why, the other will notice and talk about it.

"It takes patience and kindness to be able to listen and understand someone that you love."
Now that they have adjusted to life on the road, the pair spend most of their days enjoying nature by snowboarding, rock climbing, and hiking.
