I’m 61 & proud to show off my body in a bikini…I don’t care about ‘dress your age’ comments, if you’re offended go away
A 61-YEAR-OLD woman has revealed that she is proud to flaunt her figure in a bikini, and won’t listen to what nasty haters have to say about it.
Jacqueline Hooton, a fitness coach who helps women in their 50s and 60s to stay fit and healthy, believes that “you’re never too old and it’s never too late to start” your fitness journey.
The bikini-wearing mum-of-five and granny-of-three, isn’t phased by the nasty ‘dress your age’ comments and claimed that if people are offended, they can ignore her posts.
On social media, in a post on Instagram where the grey-haired beauty shares content under the username @hergardengym, we saw the influencer pose in her garden.
Whilst wearing a bright pink two-piece bikini, the content creator sat on an inflatable flamingo.
Alongside the post, the fitness fanatic said: “Those offended by a 60 year old woman wearing a bikini, AKA the ‘bikini police’ can stand down now.

“My work, and this account, is about supporting and encouraging women to embrace active ageing ALL YEAR ROUND.
“In summer it’s workouts you can do in your bikini on the beach or wearing shorts in the garden.

“In winter it’s workouts in a woolly hat in your backyard, or the park.
“The least important thing is what you wear.
“The most important thing is that you move.”
Jacqueline explained that she won’t let keyboard warriors get her down and instead, wants to promote the benefits of exercise.
She continued: “I ignore the ageist ‘dress your age’ commentary on my account.
"Instead I recommend ‘dressing for the weather’ when exercising, and dressing as YOU please the rest of the time.
“Still ignoring the outraged minority, still promoting the benefits of activity for healthier ageing.”
'YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION'
Social media users were clearly impressed by the Instagram post, which has now racked up over 5,700 likes.
Women flooded the comments as they praised the influencer - and many hailed her a ‘role model’ and encouraged her to continue wearing her bikini.

Staying fit as you age
Caroline Abrahams, charity director at Age UK, told Sun Health: “Staying well and feeling well matter hugely to all of us at all stages of life.
"While there are no sure-fire guarantees to living longer, there are things we can do daily that will really help to keep us healthier as we age."
Caroline recommends:
- Do things that you enjoy everyday - whether that's cooking, seeing friends or enjoying a good book
- Stay hydrated - drink six to eight cups of water a day
- Eat plenty of fruit and veggies to lower your risk of heart disease and certain cancers - have beans, pulses, fish, eggs and meat to repair your body after injury, starchy carbs for energy dairy to help keep bones strong
- Manage long-term health conditions to prevent them progressing or having a greater impact on your health
- Quit smoking and reduce alcohol intake to no more than 14 units a week
- Make mental health a priority and get treatment for it, as it can also impact physical health
A third commented: “You look amazing. I also love your bikini. Keep up the body positivity. You are an inspiration.”
Whilst someone else beamed: “You are a role model to me!!! Turning 50 this year and seeing no reason to hang up my bikini.
