A LEGENDARY comedy franchise is returning with a movie reboot after 30 years off screens with a Hollywood A-lister in the lead role.
Paramount Pictures has announced a remake of the classic comedy set to hit cinemas in 2025.
After a lot of waiting, the Naked Gun franchise reboot is finally happening 30 years on from the original 1988 movie.
Fans can mark their calendars for the release on July 18, 2025.
The upcoming film is inspired by the beloved Naked Gun franchise and the hit TV series "Police Squad!" created by the talented trio of Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, and Jerry Zucker.
Akiva Schaffer, who co-wrote the screenplay draft with Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, will direct and executive produce.

The trio previously collaborated on Chip ‘N Dale: Rescue Rangers (2022).
Schaffer, Dan Gregor, and Doug Mand rewrote the script, which had some input from Seth MacFarlane, Mark Hentemann, and Alec Sulkin.
Hollywood action star, Liam Neeson will play Detective Frank Drebin Jr. in the new film.
The original Naked Gun movies, starred Leslie Nielsen, and were inspired by the short-lived TV series Police Squad!
Nielsen portrayed Frank Drebin, a serious detective who hilariously moved up the ranks in Police Squad.
The original film has since been dubbed one of the greatest comedy films of all time.
Elsewhere, back in February last year, Liam launched a rant at 'little leprechaun' Conor McGregor whom he claims 'gives Ireland a bad name'.
The action star gave an interview to Men's Health in which he was asked whether he watches The Notorious or MMA as a whole.
Pulling absolutely no punches, the Antrim native then tore into McGregor as well as the sport of Mixed Martial Arts as a whole.
He said: “UFC (MMA's premier promotion) I can’t stand. That to me is like a bar fight.
"I know the practitioners are like, ‘no, you’re wrong—the months of training we do …’ Why don’t you just grab a beer bottle and hit the other guy over the head?
"That’s the next stage of the UFC. I hate it.
"That little leprechaun Conor McGregor, he gives Ireland a bad name.
