‘Are Primark serious?’ scream shoppers after spotting a pricey pair of socks they say they’d only ‘pay a quid’ for

PRIMARK shoppers have slammed the retailer for a pair of socks that's worth only a ''quid'' in their eyes.

Like most shops on the high street, Primark, too, have upped their prices - and now fans of the store have taken to TikTok to express their shock after spotting the price of one pair of socks.

Onw fashionista, Emma Jayne Curry, from North East, was so gobsmacked by the discovery, she wondered if Primark were ''serious''.

According to Emma, she was walking around the shop when she stumbled across cute beige socks that allegedly contained cashmere, one of the most expensive types of wool.

The Edit Knit Crew Socks - which, the brand revealed, are composed of 17% cashmere - are ''perfect for layering under boots'' and ''can complete your cold weather styling''.

But whilst the winter essential, which you can also order via their Click & Collect Scheme, is indeed adorable, many social media users had an issue with the price tag.

''One pair of socks for £5 - are Primark serious?'' Emma couldn't believe what she was seeing.

''The prices have gone up so much,'' the mortified shopper went on in the caption of the video.

After inspecting the wardrobe essential properly, Emma added: ''45% acrylic as well.

''Oh, and the best thing is they felt like normal socks.''

Instead, the fashionista advised to spend your money on Primark's fluffy socks, which she reckoned were ''the best''.

Since being shared on the platform, where Emma posts under the username @emjaynee, the video has racked up over a whopping 81k views.

Over a hundred people raced to comments - but whilst some agreed with Emma, others thought the price was only fair.

''100% cashmere socks would cost around £40, so sounds about right,'' reckoned one style lover.

Another chimed in: ''They’re more expensive as they’re cashmere.

''Not cat fur, not synthetic crap - do you know how expensive cashmere costs. £5 is cheap.''

''Cashmere though, learn your materials!'' a TikTok user hit back at Emma.

But there were also plenty of those who shared the same opinion as the shopper, adding the socks weren't worth a fiver in their eyes.

''Contains cashmere does not mean it's cashmere, I'd pay a quid for these,'' one said.

''People on here saying ’Oh, but it’s cashmere’ - on what planet do you think something from Primark would be 100% cashmere?'' someone else was baffled.

''17% cashmere - £5!! What a joke. It’s getting so bad for prices,'' a Primark fan was anything but impressed.

The discount retailer has recently faced huge backlash from its fans, as we recently wrote about a Primark maxi dress that's more expensive than posh SKIMS, selling for an eye-watering £100.

Some former super fans of the store have even claimed they'll never go back to do their shopping there.
