In the clip, she said: "I've just been informed by my mum that there are two ways people shower, and we just realised we both do the opposite thing."

"Now I need to know, what is the normal way to shower?!" she continued.

She explained she faces away from the shower head, so the water trickles onto her hair then down her back.

'Of course I'll turn around occasionally and move around,' she said.

Whereas her mother primarily faces the water to let it flow onto her face and body.

The realisation shocked both mother and daughter - who had the 'epiphany' after asking her mum for advice on redoing her bathroom.

"I feel like the normal way to shower is with the shower head behind you.. is anyone else surprised by this?'"Lovey added.

"It all started when I was asking for her advice cause we're redoing our shower. I was like where should we put the shower bench?

"She was like, "Don't you want the shower bench behind you so you can put your leg up while you're showering?''" But her daughter was left confused and baffled.

"I don't know why I'm having, like, an epiphany," Lovey finished the video.

After just two days, the TikTok clip posted to her account @alittlebitlovey has gone viral with over 3million views and over 360k likes.

People in the comments were quick to debate on the correct way to shower and the results were seriously divided.

It seemed there was an equal split on people facing towards and the shower and not, while others claimed to rotate constantly like a 'kebab.'

One person wrote: "No because voluntarily getting waterboarded doesn’t sound fun at all."

Another commented: "Who the hell faces the water..."

"Who DOESN'T face the water," penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: "In movies people are always facing the water so that’s correct."

"I rotate continuously like a kebab,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: "I constantly move around like a rotisserie chicken! Equal time on both sides."
