Monty Don fans go wild as BBC star announces new gig away from Gardeners’ World – and it kicks off in just two weeks
MONTY Don has sent fans into a frenzy after announcing his new BBC series away from Gardeners' World.
The 68-year-old has helmed the gardening advice and inspiration show since 2003, with the programme being aired from his own garden in Herefordshire from 2011 onwards.
Monty has taken to Instagram and shared an exciting career update with his 1.2 million followers.
The Gardeners' World star has announced that a broadcast date has been set for his brand new BBC Two show titled Monty Don’s Spanish Gardens.
Alongside a beautiful image of one of the gardens that will be featured in the forthcoming show, he penned: "Just had confirmed that my new series Monty Don’s Spanish Gardens will start to air on BBC Two at 8pm on Friday 23 February - two weeks' time."
The news sent fans wild as they took to the comments sections and expressed their excitement for the upcoming series.

One fan said: "Been waiting for this! Looking forward to watching."
Another user wrote: "Something rather lovely to brighten up the dark days of an English winter."
A third shared: "Looking forward to watching and being taken to the sunshine."
While a fourth followed: "That is such good news! A walk around some beautiful Spanish gardens is most welcome right now."
Someone else even offered content suggestions and said: "So excited for this. Mediterranean gardens are my favourite.
“Do you think you'll ever do a Mediterranean Climate Zone focus, tying in some Australian and South American ideas too? I'd also love to see if xeriscaping is feasible in the UK."
On his website, Monty provided further information about the show, stating that filming was "an exhilarating and fascinating experience."
The green-fingered star disclosed: "This was filmed last year when I spent seven weeks in Spain across April, May, June and October and covers over 40 different gardens right across Spain.
"I found it an exhilarating and fascinating experience with stunning gardens and learned so much more about the country - despite having visited many times before as a tourist.
"It looks incredible, and hope you find it as entertaining and rewarding watching it as I did making it."
The new show will be launching shortly, following Monty's revelation on the podcast White Wine Question Time where he admitted that he was told off for "behaving differently on camera" with his wife Sarah.
The TV star, who will be filming Monty Don’s Spanish Gardens with his other half, shared that one of the directors told him that his television performance with her wasn't "natural. "
Monty said: "He said, 'I don't know if I can continue doing this', and I said, 'What? What are you talking about?' and he said, 'Because you really can't do what you can do. And it's too frustrating'.
"And I said, 'I really don't know what you're talking about.' And he said, 'You're a presenter. You're not being natural. You're projecting too much. The whole point of this programme is to be natural - you and Sarah at home. It's what you do. Why are you behaving differently on camera?'
"And that was quite a tricky conversation because I thought I had done a lot of work by then. I was being called out because I am good enough, but I wasn't being good enough as I could be... Some presenters do it very, very well."
Last year, Monty had to reassure fans that everything was fine after posing an alarming picture from his home.
