"We know that, as a creator, engaging with your community energizes and motivates you," Instagram writes.

"But having to spend time deleting spammy comments from your posts or removing fake accounts from your followers can be a drag – and more time spent moderating your account means less time interacting with your fans."

As such, the suite of new features is aimed at cleaning up users' feeds and safeguarding their accounts.

Specifically, Instagram said it wants to give creators "the power to easily and proactively keep [their] accounts safe from unwanted interactions."

Moreover, the company wants to provide transparency about content affecting a user's account status.

THE NEW FEATURES

Thanks to advancements in detection technology, Instagram's new features can effectively identify potential spam activity.

This is meant to help users moderate fake followers in bulk.

The feature automatically categorizes suspected spam or bot requests into a separate inbox – similar to email.

Here, Instagram users can easily accept or delete accounts in one click.

They can also review and remove existing followers flagged by Instagram as potential bots.

"And don’t worry, accounts will not be alerted when they are removed from your followers list," the company assured.

Another feature lets users easily moderate their spammy tags.

"You’ll be able to review all of these potentially spammy tags and bulk delete them with no impact to your account by tapping 'Delete all requests'," Instagram said.

"Don’t feel like looking at a bunch of spammy tags? No problem! Tag requests that you don't take action on will be automatically deleted in 30 days."

The company added that it's also experimenting with hiding views on users' stories that may be spam.

"This will reduce these unwanted users’ ability to directly interact with you via story engagement," Instagram writes.

The planned features should be rolling out over the coming weeks, Instagram said.
