EastEnders fans rumble ‘inevitable’ Walford affair as Ben Mitchell is arrested and faces years in prison
EASTENDERS fans have rumbled an 'inevitable' Walford affair after Ben Mitchell is arrested and faces years in prison.
The character - played by Max Bowden - was arrested at the end of Monday's episode of the BBC soap.
Ben was taken into custody to be quizzed by cops over a crime he committed while in America last year.
EastEnders fans don't expect things to go well for the character, considering it was revealed in December last year that Max, 29, had been axed by soap bosses after five years in the role.
Now fans are speculating what will happen with Ben's husband, Callum Highway, with many predicting he will seek comfort in the arms of another man.
Taking to a soap fan forum, one wrote the topic: "Will Callum and Johnny have an affair while Ben is in prison?"

Callum is friends with Johnny Carter, who recently returned to Walford, and the pair have been seen spending time together alongside Ben in recent episodes.
Another fan replied to the 'it seems inevitable' option: "I couldn't envisage this before Johnny returned because he and Callum together would have been too goody goody and sweet. Not each other's types.
"However, New Johnny is a bad boy with enforcer vibes so Callum might be attracted to him. Not sure what Johnny's type is."
Another added: "The thing is, Ben and Callum are shackled together as characters since they're married, and as one is leaving, it makes things more complicated in the future - for a start, what if Tony Clay isn't still there when Ben is inevitably brought back.
"They'd have to think up some convoluted reason as to why they aren't together. It might be easier to split them now and pair Callum with a character who's definitely staying on the show."
A third commented under 'possibly': "With Johnny involved in the Six storyline, I don't think Johnny would be as daft as Ben to get with a copper."
But others weren't so sure about it happening - at least not straightaway.
One wrote: "Can we see a bit more of Johnny before jumping him into a relationship.
"I would prefer him to be with somebody else and personally Callum should be written out of the show now."
Another shared: "Not straight away but eventually."
EastEnders airs on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer.
