Viewers know he went to America desperate to get dying Lola Pearce onto a drugs trial in a last-ditch effort to save her life.

She died of her brain tumour last year while he was still in the US.

Now it looks like whatever shady business he got up to has finally caught up with him.

As Ben rushed to celebrate husband Callum Highway’s birthday in the Queen Vic, he was surprised to see police arrive.

“What’s this? You bringing work home again,” he said to Callum but he couldn’t have been more wrong.

The officer introduced himself as: “DC Crawford, Walford Police. Ben Mitchell?

“There’s an international warrant out for you. I’m arresting you for fraud. Allegedly committed on your trip to the United States last year.

“You do not have to say anything but anything you do say may be given in evidence.”

A shocked Ben told him: “Alright, let’s just do this outside yeah. Not in here.”

Outside Kathy saw what was going on and demanded to know what was going on.

Lexi told her: “They’re saying he’s done a crime in America.”

Kathy said: “Ben, what have you done?”

But he looked genuinely confused at why he was being arrested, so what has Ben done?
