A WOMAN has shared her advice for banishing creepy crawlies from your home.
So if you can’t stand spiders and want quick, easy and simple ways to ensure they don’t come scuttling into your house, you’ve come to the right place.
Cleaning enthusiast Chantel Mila, who is also a fan of home styling and organising, shared her top five hacks to deter bugs and spiders away from your home, including a 52p trick you must try.
Posting on social media, Chantel wrote: “Five hacks to keep bugs and spiders away from your home. Say goodbye to spiders and insects around your home.”
First of all, we saw Chantel share her simple bin trick, as she wrote: “Put peppermint oil on cotton balls and place them under your bin liners to repel bugs.”

Moments later, she then placed peppermint scented cotton balls into her hoover, as she explained: “Place peppermint oil cotton balls in your vacuum to make your home smell like mint.”
Chantel also added that doing this before hoovering will “leave the smell of peppermint through your home.”
If you haven’t got any peppermint oil in your cupboards, you’ll be pleased to know that luckily you can nab some for as little as £2.49 from Amazon.
Not only this, but Chantel then swore by a cheap trick that not only repels spiders, but ants too.
Using fresh rosemary, which you can buy for just 52p from Tesco and Sainsbury’s, Chantel revealed her simple DIY hack.
She made her own creepy crawly repellent spray, as she confirmed: “Repel ants and crawling insects using rosemary infused water.”
As well as this, if you’re on a budget, you’ll be pleased to know that Chantel’s next trick is totally free.
She explained: “Pour boiling water down drains to keep fruit flies and their eggs away.”
Finally, Chantel added orange peel to her mop, as she claimed: “Spiders hate citrus, so wipe down walls and floors with citrus oil or peels.”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @mama_mila_, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 68,300 views.
Social media users were thankful for the advice and many took to the comments to express this.
One person said: “[I’m] doing every one of these.”
Another added: “I need to do these.”
A third commented: “Thank you, I will try.”
Meanwhile, one cleaning enthusiast noted: “So helpful.”
However, according to Hill’s Pet Nutrition, peppermint is extremely dangerous to dogs.
Daily Paws explained that all essential oils are toxic to dogs and can cause mouth and throat irritation, drooling and vomiting.
Inhaling peppermint oil can also cause wheezing, coughing and difficult breathing.
Not only this, but according to the ASPCA, eating peppermint can also cause diarrhoea, among other reactions.
As a result, other social media users expressed that lavender is a much safer solution for households with dogs.
One user claimed: “Instead of peppermint, use lavender, it's safe for dogs.”
