I’m a first-time buyer – here’s how I saved £27k for a house deposit in two years & the secret to nabbing £4k for FREE
THERE'S no denying that getting on the property ladder can be a long and stressful process.
But one savvy first-time homeowner who saved £27,000 for her 10% house deposit in two years along with her partner, has revealed her top money-saving tips.
Courtney, who lives in a three-bed semi detached house, begins by explaining how they were "realistic" about their savings expectations.
"We managed to save around £1,200 a month between us," she says, in a clip shared to TikTok (@courtneyhatts).
"We saved as much as we could leaving us enough to survive and still have a life!"
Courtney is the first to point out that they did have a "massive advantage" because they were able to live at home with their parents while saving.

"This allowed us to save so much a month as we didn't have any big outgoings and only paid £100 rent each to our parents," she says.
Next up, she notes how the pair had "dedication."
"Owning my own home was a goal and dream of mine since I was young," she explains.
"This motivated me to save, save, save."
She continues: "We did our best to do extra hours where possible to earn that little bit extra to put towards our deposit."
The money-saving whizz also says that while it may seem obvious, they also cut down on things like takeaways, eating out, and buying stuff that wasn't needed.
"This made a huge difference," she claims.
Another money-saving tip Courtney shared is to be organised with your finances.
"As soon as she got paid we'd put out saving for the deposit in one account/lifetime ISA," she says.
"Other outgoings such as a phone, petrol, car tax in our second account.
"Then the third account would be our monthly allowance to ensure we are still having a life."
And according to Courtney, a lifetime ISA is a must.
"We were recommended 'Money Box' by friends who use this for their first home," she says.
"We both set up an account and we both put in maximum of £4,000 each tax year which was the maximum.
"We'd get a 25% government bonus back each tax year (£1,000).
"Within two years we received a total £4,000 for FREE."
While it's essential for everyone to do their own research, Courtney claims: "We'd definitely recommend this - such a great scheme."
The post has since gone viral, racking up a whopping 105k views, with many quick to praise Courtney on her impressive achievements.
"Congratulations your house looks lovely," enthused one.
