"Our council house exchange kitchen is nearly finished", she said.

"We were so grateful for the help of friends and family".

Sharing clips of what her kitchen used to look like, the DIY whizz showed that her council kitchen was falling apart.

Paint was peeling off the walls, there were loose wires sticking out of the wall and the window ledge was falling off.

With the help of friends and family, the TikToker gutted the kitchen and set to work on the transformation.

She installed stylish grey kitchen units, and sleek wooden floors.

The mum added grey marble kitchen counters a brand new oven and even a large airfryer.

The TikTok has clearly left many impressed, as it has racked up over 42,000 views in the video sharing platform.

TikTok users raced to the video's comments section to share their thoughts on the kitchen transformation.

One user said: "This honestly looks beautiful."

I’ll earn £15k this month but hate my tiny council house & deserve a BIGGER one - I've spent taxpayers’ cash on a Range Rover too

Another user said: "Oh I love it! Looks so lush".

A third user added: "You should be proud of yourselves. What a fantastic job. It's gorgeous."

Council tenants are allowed to make alterations and renovations to their homes.

However, they must make sure that any work conforms to building regulations and planning permission.

The mum got her council house via a council house exchange, which is where you can swap your house with another person's, if your landlord permits it.

Council houses are provided by local authorities to those in need.

They are often cheaper than renting private housing and can also offer greater security from eviction.

Council houses are allocated to prospective tenants via a points based system, with those in greater need given homes first.

The council will contact you about an available property when you are high enough up the waiting list.
