I took my tree down as soon as Boxing Day arrived – people might say it’s bad luck but I’m over Christmas already
ARE you still feeling the warm glow of Christmas and want the holiday season to last as long as possible?
Many people have revealed how they took down their Christmas tree as soon as Boxing Day arrived, with one woman saying she was “over it”.
Chelsea shared how she was not fussed about extending the time her tree was up at home and immediately packed it away.
On her @highlandmama1 account, she wrote: “Does anyone else take down their tree on Boxing Day?
“Im OVER it at this point guys sorry, trees coming down.”
Her video has sparked a debate in the comments, but many people agreed with her viewpoint and had taken theirs down too.
More on Christmas
One person wrote: “Mine down and packed away this morning.”
Another added: “Yes all down.”
A third commented: “yep already down and back in loft.”
However, some people were baffled at Chelsea taking it down so “early”.
One woman said: “why do people put them up so early to take down on boxing when it is Xmas I don't get it.”
A second agreed: “No, not till after the 6th Jan.”
And one said: “its bad luck 2 take down ur tree and decorations until 6th jan.... there are 12 days of christmas.”
According to etiquette expert William Hanson, you traditionally keep Christmas decorations up until “Twelfth Night.”
According to the commonly-followed Christian tradition, the Twelfth Night marks the end of seasonal festivities - occurring 12 days after the holiday began.
So if December 25 is the first day of Christmas, that means Twelfth Night lands on January 5 every year.
However, the date can cause some confusion - others have regarded January 6 as the Twelfth night, partly because the day is sometimes also known as twelfth day.
It's widely believed to be bad luck to keep decorations up after this date but you can take them down earlier, if you want.
The choice is entirely up to you.
