Tufnell, 58, was on duty for BBC's Test Match Special, covering the clash's morning action.

During a conversation with co-host Jonathan Agnew, he was put through his paces so as not to break out in laughter.

Agnew said: "A new technique now. Don't you remember we had fingering, well now its all about tonguing.

"Hard-tonguing, soft-tonguing and in between, so lots of tonguing going on at the moment."

Tufnell calmly responded: "How do you do that then?"

Agnew then said: "Hard-tonguing is easier than soft-tonguing."

To which, Tuffnell said: "Well I should imagine it is. You have a lot of things to think about."

Agnew then said: "You're fingering, you're tonguing, you are all over the place."
