I work in Aldi and here’s the secret to getting 30%, 50% and 75% off your shop – as well as the exact time to nab a deal

AN ALDI employee has revealed how to get up to an incredible 75% off your shopping, and the exact time to nab a deal.

Savvy shopper Chelsea initially took to her Instagram page to explain that she'd seen a hack online, and decided to try it herself the next time she went to Aldi.

To get the money off her shop, she found an item that was due to pass its best before date in the next five days.

And, sure enough, when she got to the till and pointed it out to the cashier, the item was reduced by 30%.

"If you pick up an item which expires within five days of purchase, you get that item at a discounted price AND this includes items which haven’t yet been marked down!!!" she wrote alongside the Reel.

"The best discounts are of course on items with expiry dates of the same day and the following day."

However, the comments section was almost immediately filled with remarks from Aldi employees correcting Chelsea, as well as revealing just when the discounts are made.

"I work at Aldi and it’s only same day and next day that’s 30% off," one wrote.

"Date checking is usually done late afternoon/early evening and the next day stock is reduced to 30% off.

"And the current date is either reduced further or taken off sale".

"It depends on the item. We have 30% 50% and 75% stickers," another wrote.

While a third commented: "It’s 30% the day before, 50% on the day.

"Nothing of the sort about any 5 day rule.

Chelsea then responded, writing: "Yesssss, had a few people message to say it’s 75% off on the day and 30% the day after, just wanted to try this out as they’d said five days where I saw it.

"Still amazing savings though. Thanks for clarifying!"

She then added another comment, writing: "I’ve since seen a few comments on this reel and spoken with a good friend who works for Aldi, who have advised the best discounts are the same date expiry at 75% off and the following day at 30% off.

"My friend said in her store they wouldn’t discount further, but she couldn’t be sure the same would apply in other ALDIs across the UK ie. it may be at management discretion etc.
