I’ve got two kids but I’m only buying one of them Christmas presents – everyone thinks it’s because I’ve got a favourite

A MUM has sparked controversy after revealing she's only buying one of her two kids presents this Christmas.

Tiffany said that because her youngest will only be five months at Christmas, she won't "appreciate" any gifts she'd be given.

But she insisted that she doesn't have a "favourite" between her two kids.

"I'm only buying one of my kids Christmas presents," she said in her TikTok video, cradling her baby as she said, "Not this one!"

"I don't have a favourite, I will tell you that for free.

"But this one's three months old - by the time Christmas rolls around, she'll be five.

"Does she need presents? No she doesn't.

"She's too young to understand, appreciate - there is literally no point in buying her a Christmas present."

Tiffany added that she's also on maternity pay, so doesn't "have the money to buy her a Christmas present".

But that's not to say that she'll stop other people from buying her baby girl presents.

"I don't have a problem with someone buying her presents - I'm just not gonna do it for her," she said.

"Next year, she'll be 18 months come Christmas - she will definitely be getting presents then, but for this year it's a no."

In the caption for the TikTok video, Tiffany wrote: "Idk if this is normal or not, im sure the comments will soon roll in if it turns out im the worlds worst mum for refusing to get my baby anything for her first christmas.

"But she's too young to want anything and already has everything she needs.

"So I'm not damaging my bank account by trying to keep up with the joneses and buy her loads of stuff she doesn't need."

People were quick to weigh in on the video, with one writing: "My daughter will be 5 months old few days after xmas. i may or may not have spend 2k on her.

"I have problems!"

"I wish I wasn't bullied into buying mine Xmas presents on their 1st christmas, they were 2 months and then my 2nd was 1 month, made zero sense thinking back to it now," another added.

"Mine was 6 months old his first Xmas and I let social media tell me I’d be a bad mum if I didn’t," a third commented.

"Biggest regret! Wasted money."

As someone else wrote: "This is something I feel more parents should do! and the shame around it needs to be banished! Good on you!"

Not everyone agreed though.

"Disgusting," one raged.

"Miserable," another added.

As a third insisted: "Small gift ain't going to kill you!"

"I gave her the gift of life," Tiffany hit back.
