Frank Bough
Frank launched the flagship show alongside Selina Scott and Nick Ross in 1983.
The journalist was known for his relaxed approach when it came to presenting and delivering the news.
He was described as the most "unassailable performer on British television" by his peers.
However, Frank wasn't without his troubles and was sacked by BBC bosses after it emerged he took cocaine and enlisted the services of prostitutes.
Frank went on to work with rival broadcaster ITV before later returning in 1998.
The father-of-three passed away in 2020 at the age of 87.
Selina Scott
Selina brought the glamour as the first female co-host of BBC Breakfast.
But the now 72-year-old had a rocky time at the Beeb and accused her co-star Frank Bough of deliberately undermining her.
After leaving Breakfast Selina presented a fashion show for the broadcaster before later moving to Sky.
In the decades since the Yorkshire native has hosted a number of documentaries on the Royal Family across Europe.
Selina turned her hand to acting when she stared in four episodes of The Real Marigold Hotel.

Nick Ross
Nick is best known for fronting the BBC's Crimewatch series but also served a stint on the breakfast sofa.
The founding presenter stayed on the red sofa for just three years and departed in 1986.
Nick, now 76, also launched consume programme Watchdog and had his own political show on Channel 4.
Despite leaving Crimwatch in 2007, Nick continued his journalism in the field and spent an entire year creating BBC One series The Truth About Crime.
Nick was awarded an OBE for his services to broadcasting and crime prevention in 2021.
