Sally's interview with Conservative Health Secretary Victoria Atkins got heated

During the latest instalment of BBC Breakfast, host Sally received backlash from viewers after she questioned the MP about the NHS budget cuts and how they have dropped since 2014.

As she started the segment, the BBC presenter asked Victoria: "Am I right in thinking that the budget for NHS dentistry has dropped by £500million since 2014?

"So you might be putting in an extra £200million, but that's from a point where the budget is hugely smaller than it was 10 years ago."

"The budget has dropped, hasn't it?" the host interrupted as Ms Atkins went on: "Our budget is £3billion as I say that is..."

Weighing in again, Sally said: "That is lower than it was.”

The Health Secretary followed: "Last year, we put out a ring fence around that funding, and some areas took on that challenge and said, 'Okay, if we don't have NHS dentists working to the top of their contracts, then we will innovate.

"And indeed, some of the dental vans that I'm talking about bringing in, there are already dental vans operating in, for example, Cornwall, Birmingham, and other areas to try and really help those parts of the country where people are struggling to get appointments."

After the segment aired, fans took to X(formerly known as Twitter) and shared their frustrations about the interview.

One user wrote, "Sally is shouting #bbcbreakfast," as another fumed "Had to switch off!#BBCBreakfast."

A third chimed: "This is painful Never get a straight answer."

While someone else raged: "#BBCBreakfast, you need to improve your interview tactics. Disgraceful waffle again."

A fifth simply stated: "Car crash. #BBCBreakfast."

As another viewer typed, "It’s also not good for anyone on TV giving an interview to say “keep it simple for the viewers at home”.

“Why insult our intelligence like that? A bit condescending from Sally. #BBCBreakfast." (sic)

Other BBC Breakfast fans took to the social media platform and  praised Sally’s interview with one saying: "#BBCBreakfast Sal doing a great job."
