Most people today will be using a daily cream, as facial skin care products are becoming among the most popular skin care categories world wide.

The global anti-ageing market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 6.7 percent between 2022 and 2027, according to Statista.

The market was also valued at £48.8 billion in 2021 and is expected to increase to £73.2 billion in 2027.

And with thousands of creams on the market, ranging from pennies to hundreds of pounds - it’s important to know which ones actually work, and which ones are a waste of time.

Beauty fans are currently claiming they have discovered the “holy grail” of skincare and saying more expensive brands are actually using it in their creams.

Irish Dj and broadcaster Annie Mac recently swore that the £2 NIVEA Soft soft moisturising cream is essentially the same as a much more expensive cream.

She claims that the NIVEA cream, which can be bought from Boots, “is actually Creme de la Mer but in a different box.”

Creme de la Mer, which costs £155, is an ultra-rich cream that helps soothe dryness whilst making your skin feel firmer and look more radiant.

And Annie Mac isn’t the only beauty fan claiming that the posh brands are the same as the NIVEA cream.

To back this up, Daire who previously worked on big shoots for magazines also revealed a revelation about the NIVEA cream.

The photographer took to her TikTok page ‘dairewithafada,’ and shared a video revealing the ‘gossip,’ she discovered whilst working to her 25.4k followers.

Talking to the camera, she says: “Do you want some tea?”

The photographer then goes onto how makeup artists revealed some top secrets to her on these photoshoots.

She goes on to say: “I'm a photographer and for a while I was doing photographer's assistant work.

“On some really quite fancy shoots, for all the big fashion magazines in Dublin.

“And, all the makeup artists agree and all say the same thing about Charlotte Tilbury's Magic cream.

“It's essentially identical to NIVEA and just mixed with a little bit of highlighter balm, FYI.”

Charlotte Tilbury's Magic is a Supercharges Moisturiser, which costs £52, and claims to hydrate and plump the skin.

It is also hailed as the "best moisturiser" for reducing the look of fine lines and enhancing radiance.

The video has attracted thousands of likes, with many rushing to the comments section to share their thoughts.

Sharing their thoughts, one wrote: “I think Charlotte actually used to just mix NIVEA and highlighter, that's where she got the idea?”

Someone else claimed: “A friend's father worked at a factory that made NIVEA. It's the base for everything.”

A third added: “Makeup artists have been saying this for ages.. CT magic cream is basically NIVEA with strobe cream.. I’m sure you’d find loads of strobing products for cheap too!”

A fourth said: “I’m 52 years old and have used NIVEA my whole life - everybody remarks on my skin.”

NIVEA Soft is a light formula with Vitamin E and Jojoba Oil and aims to refresh the skin.
