M25 is SHUT due to lorry crash with huge oil spill sparking ‘severe’ hour-long delays & 8 miles of traffic

THE M25 has been shut after a lorry crash - with a huge oil spill sparking "severe" hour-long delays.

More than 8 miles of congestion has been reported anticlockwise between J10 (Wisley) and J9 (Leatherhead) in Surrey.

Drivers taking the M25 have been urged to plan ahead following warnings of 60-minute traffic delays.

The crash, which is believed to have involved a lorry, was reported at around 7:30 this morning.

National Highways said its service providers were called to clear a diesel spillage caused by the incident.

The operator said: "2 lanes (of 4) remain closed on the #M25 anti-clockwise between J10 (#Wisley) and J9 (#Leatherhead).

"Our service providers are currently clearing a diesel spillage caused by the collision. Barrier repairs are also required.

Delays of at least 60 minutes on approach.

This comes just days after the motorway was closed at Junction 10.

All entry and exit roads on the Wisley Interchange saw a full weekend closure.

National Highways previously said: "The Wisley Interchange junction 10, including all entry and exit slip roads, will be closed in its entirety from 9pm on Friday 16 May to 6am Monday 19 May 2025.

"While the A3 and M25 will both remain open, the slip roads off and on the junction won't be, meaning you won't be able to leave or join the M25 or the A3 AT junction 10."
