But one woman has shared a surefire way to defrost your car quickly and easily - using tips shared by a former NASA engineer.

First of all, turn on the car heater, and turn it up to full blast.

Then turn on the car's air conditioning.

"It will help soak up the remainder of any moisture inside," the woman from Eden Tyres and Servicing said in the TikTok video.

Next is to push a button that most of us usually forget about - the car's air circulation button.

"When turned on, this then traps the humidity inside," she explained, so turning it off means it will defrost quicker.

She concluded her list by saying that you also need to "open all of the car windows - only ever so slightly".

"This will help exchange humidity in the car for the dry air that's outside," she added.

"And voila, a nice defrosted windscreen!"

People were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: "Can confirm this works!"

"I've been using the winter a/c method for a few weeks and my screen definitely clears quicker," another added.

"My car is over 12y old so doesn't have a heated windscreen."

While others shared their own top tips for helping defrost a car quickly.

"Also put your sun visors down - traps more of the hot air against the screen," one wrote.

"Ice scraper, Proper Job, £1.99, takes 5 mins," another added.

"1. Boil kettle 2. Fill bottle 3. Pour on windscreen," a third said.

However, lots of people who have tried the hot water method have ended up accidentally cracking their windscreens and windows - so this isn't advised.
