I made my own drying room in my house out of an old cot, my clothes dry so quickly and costs nothing to run
DRYING clothes in the Great British winter is no easy feat especially when you’re avoiding popping the heating on.
While using drying racks is the obvious solution they can quickly take up space and clutter your home.
However, one savvy dad has revealed how he created a drying room for his clothes that takes up no space.
Taking to Reddit, he shared a snap of his DIY solution where he had created four separate drying racks that folded down from the wall.
Once clothes were dry they could simply be folded away again without taking up any floor space.
Captioning his snap he wrote: “Took apart an old wooden crib and rebuilt it into these drying racks for our laundry area. Happy with how it has worked out.”

Sharing his method, he continued: “I divided the side of the crib into 2 and reframed to make the 2 fold up racks. They are held to wall by 16” folding brackets I bough - pretty straightforward.
“The fold down racks were much more effort to get right. Made these from the crib ends. Added some dowel rods to increase stability and extra hanging space. Mounted to wall at bottom on simple hinges.
“On top , hanging a repurposed chain (I had lying around from a light fixture) suspended from eye bolts. Flat cabinet door magnets to click closed when raised. All wood sprayed black.”
He added: “An unintended advantage of chains we discovered is we can hang clothing hangers through them if needed.”
Fellow Redditors were quick to applaud his efforts, sharing their thoughts in the comments.
