A BEAUTY enthusiast has revealed the homemade hair oil she used to avoid postpartum hair loss.
She shared the recipe for the haircare product after being quizzed about what she used to grow her long and thick tresses.
Amy Chang (@bondenavant) boasts over 1.6 million followers on TikTok, where she shares beauty tips.
She was all smiles as she shared the secret behind her luscious locks.
“DIY hair growth oil recipe,” she said. “It’s a really simple recipe and only contains a few ingredients.
“Black seed oil and rosemary essential oil which has been shown in studies to help with hair loss and hair growth.
“I like to use it once a week as an all-over hair oil mask.”
The beauty enthusiast cited research she read supporting the use of the oils for haircare in text over the screen as she mixed them together in a glass jar.
“One study showed black cumin seed oil can help hair regrowth after telogen effluvium (hair loss from stress, weight loss, postpartum,” she wrote.
“Rosemary essential oil is proven to be as effective as minoxidil at increasing hair growth in one study.
“BONUS: It’s also anti-fungal antiseptic - can help with flakes.”
“Recipe: ⅓ c cold pressed coconut oil, ⅓ c cold pressed black cumin seed oil, 1 tsp rosemary essential oil,” she added.
Amy used a brush to apply the mixture to her scalp before using her hands to massage it throughout her hair including the tips.
She admitted that she was unsure how much of her hair health was a result of using the homemade oil as she’d only been using it consistently for one month.
“So far my hair feels really nice, thick, hydrated, and I haven’t lost any hair from postpartum yet,” she said.
The video racked up over 53,000 likes from people who were grateful that she had shared the “homemade growth oil” recipe.
Hundreds of people took to the comment section saying they were eager to try the oil for themselves and asking where to buy the ingredients.
Amazon’s Sri Sri Tattva store has a 4.3-star rating on their cold-pressed coconut oil, which costs $15.
Black seed oil is available from Amazon’s Aliver store for $8, and the retailer’s Majestic Pure store sells organic rosemary essential oil for $10.

Amy told viewers that her homemade oil lasts” a lot longer” than regular hair growth serums because only a small amount of each oil is needed each time.
“I use it 1X a week as an all-over hair mask concentrating on the roots and then use two to three drops to massage my scalp at night,” she added.
