During Tuesday's show the anchors brought viewers the latest headlines from across the UK and the world.

Jon also updated BBC Breakfast fans on the developing story of Greece's wildfires, leaving people fleeing their homes.

He was then about to speak to Beeb reporter Jessica Parker who was based outside Athens when things went wrong.

Despite the roving reporter appearing on the studio screens, the connection dropped leaving her frozen.

"Is there any signs these fires are coming under control," probed Jon before he realised Jessica couldn't hear him.

Jon's voice changed as a 'BBC Master Control Room' sign with coloured test bars flashed on screens.

As the studio cameras returned to the visibly startled dad-of-three, Jon told viewers: "It looks like the line to Jess might have frozen.

"We will return to her a little bit later."

Jon quickly moved on with the rest of the day's headlines.

This isn't the first blunder to plague BBC Breakfast, with Naga Munchetty left scrambling just days ago.

The 49-year-old was hosting alongside Charlie Stayt when a video failed to play on the screens behind her about challenges facing the farming industry.

After a long pause, Naga addressed the mishap by saying: "Well you could have had a look but we haven't got it, unfortunately.

"But what we can do is show you a feed in this moment in time..."

BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One and iPlayer.
