‘It’s disgusting’ shopper claims as she brands Tesco a ‘rip off’, even though she got own brand items & Clubcard deals

A WOMAN has branded Tesco a ‘rip off’ and has slammed her £122 grocery bill as ‘absolutely disgusting’.

Despite not buying any meat and making sure to nab own brand items, as well as getting Clubcard deals, Kimberley Draper recently took to social media to vent her frustration with the big supermarket chain.

The mother, who owns her own personalised craft store on Etsy, was appalled at the total cost of her shopping, which included everyday essentials such as washing-up liquid, toilet rolls, bread and vegetables.

However, the beauty fan did stock up on some make-up items, as well as washing-up pods and cooking oil, which shoppers claimed may have been the reason for the high total cost.

This comes despite Which? naming Tesco as one of the cheapest places to shop.

When comparing shopping in Aldi, Asda, Lidl, Tesco or Sainsbury’s, Aldi is still hailed the UK's cheapest supermarket, closely followed by Lidl.

However, their research has also concluded that shopping with a Tesco Clubcard was the next cheapest and both Tesco Clubcard and Sainsbury's Nectar prices knocked Asda off the top spot.

But Kimberley was keen to disagree, as she showed off her haul on social media and said: “Tesco. I am absolutely astonished at how this was £122. That's not okay.”

As she shared the items she nabbed, she continued: “You’ve got pizza, Tesco value Jaffa cakes, Tesco value yogurts, Tesco coffee, spinach, milk on Clubcard, bagels on Clubcard, some work trousers, two [tins of] baked beans, broccoli, carrots, some Tesco washing-up liquid.”

Kimberley also got two bottles of Garnier micellar water and three body sprays, as she added: “These were on Clubcard.”

Not only this, but the mother nabbed a pack of five chocolate bars from Tesco’s own brand, as well as a large bar of Galaxy chocolate, as she continued: “This was on Clubcard for £3.50 as a present.”

But that’s not all, as Kimberley also got three packs of sage and onion stuffing, three loaves of bread, cooking oil, some Tesco Value toilet paper, and a reduced Wasabi box.

Despite choosing cheap items in a bid to save cash, the Tesco shopper wasn’t happy with the total cost of her shopping, as she hailed the supermarket a “rip off” and later confirmed: “This didn’t include any meat!”

Clearly horrified, in the hashtags alongside her clip, Kimberley penned #thisisb******t and #whatajoke.

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @kimbod1410, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 18,300 views.

But social media users were left divided at the video - while many were equally as horrified, other shoppers claimed that they are often impressed with Tesco’s prices.

One shopper penned: “Tesco is so expensive it’s disgusting.”

Whilst a second chimed in: “I absolutely hate Tesco.”

Meanwhile, someone else said: “I go [to] Tesco [and] get LOADS for £100???”

As another added: “I shop Tesco and I get twice as much as that for £122!”

At the same time, many eagle-eyed shoppers were quick to point out why Kimberley’s shopping was so expensive.

One bargain hunter shared: “That's £12 alone on makeup remover, about £7.50 on body sprays, £12 on foundation, let’s say trousers were £15 (maybe more). That’s around £50 already before you even include the wash pods and oil that would up the price a bit…”

Another Tesco fan agreed: “Quite simple, the trousers, make up, micellar water, the sprays would have bumped up the price.”

Whilst another pointed out: “You didn’t mention the foundation.”

To this, Kimberley replied: “Foundation was £8, that’s cheap.”

Not only this, but other TikTok users were eager to share which supermarkets they go to instead.

One wrote: “I use Ocado now, it’s cheaper. I can’t believe one bag of Tesco shopping is about £30 now.”

Another savvy shopper shared: “Try Asda, I buy double this for about £60.”

A third explained: “I wouldn't dare. Aldi all the way.”
