I’m ditching Aldi for good – I almost choked at the checkout, it’s a total rip off so now I’ve switched to Asda instead
A WOMAN has claimed that she’ll never shop in Aldi again after she almost choked at the checkout.
This year, shoppers rated Aldi as the nation’s most popular supermarket, according to polling data from YouGov.
However, one woman has claimed that she’s ditching ‘Britain’s Favourite Supermarket’ and opting for Asda instead.
It all came about after savvy shopper Nicole almost ‘regurgitated’ her breakfast at the ‘rip off’ prices.
Nicole took to social media to open up about her recent Aldi experience, as she shared her video with the caption ‘Aldi is a rip clean off, pass it on.’
She then said: “I'm sorry, right, but what the actual f*****g f**k has just happened in there?

“I've just nearly choked at checkout.
“I thought Aldi was supposed to be cheap.
“I know you’re thinking now ‘here she goes again’. I'm always rambling, talking s**t. I know, it is what it is.”
Instead, Nicole claimed that she’ll be going to Asda to get her groceries, as she continued: “I'm sticking to Asda in future.
“I'm choking. I'm in shock.
“But Asda might sling items through your door one at a time at you, but at least you don't have to pack it and pick it and whatever.
“I thought Aldi was supposed to be cheap.
“I feel like regurgitating my breakfast clean into my lap.
“Wow. I've got no words. I'm mortified.”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @nicolfergs, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up a whopping 118,700 views.
Social media users could relate to Nicole’s claims and were eager to express this in the comments.
One person said: “It’s ridiculous!! I’ve gone back to Tesco.”
Another added: “100% agree, it's so expensive now.”
Whilst a third commented: “Same everywhere now.”
At the same time, many shoppers took to the comments to advise Nicole on where she should go to do her shopping instead.
One bargain hunter claimed: “Aldi price hikes are ridiculous, I go to Tesco now, fresh produce is so much better quality.”
A savvy shopper wrote: “Try Sainsbury’s! It’s about the same price as Asda now, better quality and nicer to walk around!”
Meanwhile, another TikToker penned: “You may as well go M&S these days, if you look for deals or buy the basic range it's not much different to everywhere else and the fruit and veg lasts.”
An Aldi spokesperson said: “Which? named Aldi the Cheapest Supermarket for November 2023 and our promise to shoppers is that we will always provide the lowest grocery prices in Britain.
