Worrying moment athlete collapses during Olympics 2024 10,000m final just yards from rivals as fans left concerned
FRENCH long-distance runner Yann Schrub collapsed to the floor during the Men's 10,000m final in Paris.
Worrying scenes saw schrub fall to the floor with just 11 laps of the track left to run, showing just how physically challenging the event is.
Schrub's body gave up after around 15 and a half minutes of flat out running, seeing the 28-year-old lie on his back and gasp for air.
Medics were quick to jump onto the track and assist the Frenchman.
The medical team helped Schrub gingerly return to his feet with the rest of the pack carrying on as if nothing happened - laser focused on achieving Olympic glory.
And the collapse brought his race to an end, seeing a DNF next to his name on the standings.

Fans watching on from home were concerned about Schrub and took to social media to express their well-wishes.
One wrote: "Hope it goes well for Yann Schrub!"
While another added: "Too sad for Schrub".
And a third posted: "My heart hurts for him. I hope he can run next week."
It's not known exactly what happened to Yann Schrub.
However, early signs were positive as the European Championship silver medallist was seen on his feet following the race.
In fact, Schrub joined compatriot Jimmy Gressier, who finished in 13th place, in a lap of honour to thank the home fans after the conclusion of the race.
Uganda's Joshua Cheptegei won gold in the incredible race, finishing the 10km effort in just 26:43:14 - a new Olympic record.
While Ethiopia's Berihu Aregawi took silver and Grant Fisher won bronze for Team USA.
Schrub's Olympics aren't over yet though with the star set to return to the track for the 5,000m heats on Wednesday.
And he even hinted that his hopes for a medal in the 5,000m race was partly behind his decision not to continue.
Speaking after the race, he said: "I admit that I was very impressed by the Stade de France but really hyper impressed when the spectators shouted Jimmy's name and then mine.
"I left feeling very emotional on this line but that in no way excuses my performance tonight.

"After ten laps, I wasn't feeling very good. There was a disconnect between the head and legs.
"I decided to turn on the flashing light to save myself for Wednesday and the 5000m heat."
