Shock Coronation Street exit for Summer Spellman as she gets once in a lifetime offer
SUMMER Spellman has been standing on the side-lines as she tries her best to help Paul Foreman with his MND symptoms.
But next week, the student gets the chance to leave Coronation Street and study abroad. Will she take it?
The teen portrayed by Harriet Bibby is one of many to support Paul Foreman in his dying months as his struggle with motor neurone disease continues.
As ITV viewers will remember, Paul only has a handful of months left to live as the illness is slowly taking over.
But in scenes airing next week, Summer drops a bombshell on another one of her father figures.
Coming up, she tells Billy Mayhew (played by Daniel Brocklebank) that she's been offered a chance to study in America.

However, due to Paul's (Peter Ash) health being on a decline, Summer concedes that it may not be the right time for her to travel away from the cobbles.
Later on, despite his own back pain, Billy tells Summer he’s determined to make Valentine’s Day special for Paul with a motorbike and sidecar ride.
Wincing in pain, Billy rides pillion before knocking back the painkillers and heading out to the Bistro.
Unfortunately, the mood is ruined when an old schoolmate of Paul’s, and his fellow stags, start behaving raucously.
Billy surprises Paul with a Barbershop Quartet and the latter is delighted.
But when Benno heads over and tries to force him to dance, Billy sees red and punches Benno.
What will be the consequences?
Whatever the case may be, Paul then urges Summer to accept the American offer as he doesn’t want to hold her back.
What will Summer decide?
As mentioned above, time is quickly running out for Paul Foreman and if Summer left Weatherfield to go abroad, she may not have the chance to properly wave him goodbye.

"I had mixed feelings obviously. I'll be sad to leave the show. It's an amazing job, I've met fantastic people."
"I'll be sad to leave but at the same time, I'm quite happy to be involved in such a powerful storyline which will hopefully bring awareness to it. It's a double edged sword."
