Coronation Street cancelled tonight as soap schedule chaos rages on – leaving fans livid

CORONATION Street has been cancelled again tonight as the soap scheduling chaos rages on.

Soaps on both channels have been impacted by various sporting events in recent weeks, with FA Cup football matches and the Six Nations rugby all taking place.

EastEnders was pushed back in the schedules last night because of an FA Cup replay between Plymouth Argyle and Leeds United, and tonight it's the turn of its ITV rival.

Coronation Street usually airs a one-hour episode at 7.30pm on Wednesdays, straight after Emmerdale.

However, while Emmerdale is holding its 7pm slot, FA Cup live coverage will kick off in Corrie's slot.

Tonight's match is a fourth round replay between Aston Villa and Chelsea, with coverage set to go on until 10.20pm.

Coronation Street will now air its episodes for the week on Friday at 8pm and then Sunday, February 11 at 8pm instead.

It comes just days after Corrie was cancelled again for sports coverage, with Friday's episode being removed from schedules.

Instead the opening match of The Six Nations Championship was broadcast and saw Ireland beat France.

Soap fans are furious at the on-going schedule disruption, and took to X - formerly Twitter - to complain.

One wrote: "Why not put the sport on itv 2 or something, you have 4 channels so it doesn’t need to disrupt the soaps every time there’s a match on."

Another raged: "STOPPP WITH THE CHANGESSSS."

A third tweeted: "How annoying!!!!!! Don’t know why the schedule has to change for sports. What’s the point in sports channels!!!"

Meanwhile a fourth raged: "For the love of god put rugby on itv4
@ITVSport no one cares about your egg ball."
