Explosions reported after fire in residential compound in Chinese city of Shenzhen

Explosions were heard in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen after a fire broke out in a high-end residential compound, local media reported.

The fire started at Shenzhen Bay Yuefu Phase II, one of the city’s most exclusive addresses,at around 3pm.

Emergency services, including police, firefighters and medical personnel, quickly arrived on the site in the Nanshan district.

Details of casualties and the cause of the blaze are yet to be confirmed.

One video clip circulating on social media appeared to show a person falling out of the window.
