Van enthusiast Will has revealed what settings to switch the air conditioning nods on your dashboard to in an insightful TikTok.

In a 55-second clip, Will reveals four settings to defog your windscreen fast.

Firstly, Will says a driver needs to turn the car's air conditioning heating on to the hottest setting.

Then, set the direction of the air to flow from the dashboard upwards to the windscreen.

He says: "Some cars will have a grill button for defrosting your rear windscreen, but I don't have that, whack that on as well."

He then advises to turn the strength of the air conditioning onto full blow to move blast hot air as fast as possible.

Finally, Will says the air recirculation button should be switched off so that cool dry air from outside can be brought inside the car.

A former NASA engineer has conducted a test and found that Will's way is the quickest to defrost a car and explained why.

Mark Rober says the goal is to make the air inside the car warm and dry so that any water vapour can be held in the air.

If there is too much vapour in the air, that's when the water will begin to cling to the glass.

There are other tips that you can easily do at home to help dry the air inside the car faster.

One such idea is to leave cat litter or silicon gel packets on your dashboard.

Both have moisture-absorbing qualities and will help reduce the amount of moisture in the air.

Drivers can be fined £2,500 and three penalty points if they drive with the windows misted up.
