The Early Rundown is coming to an end after almost five years on screens.

Bosses have shelved the show as they shake-up their schedule to make room for an extended Breakfast show with Kay Burley.

The Early Rundown first launched in 2019 and was presented by Niall Paterson before Leah became its lead anchor.

It aired from 5am until 7am and gave viewers a round-up of that morning's biggest stories.

Taking to social media, Leah shared a special tribute message and a snap of her in the studio ahead of its last broadcast.

She said: "And for one last time do join me for the final run of The Early Rundown 5am-7am on @SkyNews tomorrow.

"To my regular early bird viewers thank you for your company. It’s been special."

The Sun understands Leah will remain on the presenting roster at Sky News, stepping in to anchor other bulletins in the schedule.

Since October 2019, Kay Burley, 63, has fronted early-morning slot with her self-titled show.

From Monday it will relaunch with a fresh new look, along with brand new faces to co-host with Kay.

One of them is former BBC anchor Gareth Barlow who has been poached by producers.

Sky's political correspondent Mhari Aurora and presenter Wilfred Frost complete the new lineup.

Kay Burley Breakfast will air Monday to Friday from 6am to 10am on Sky News.
