MOVING house is never easy, with costs mounting up before you’ve even moved in.
One woman has totally transformed her council house in less than a week – with thrifty finds from the high street.
Whilst most of us take several months to settle into our new homes, content creator Amy was eager to renovate her new property.
Having spent months waiting for a council house, she hoped that the home would be the perfect place to restart her life after her relationship ended.
Sharing a first look at the property, Amy’s video revealed that the carpets had been stripped, her wood floors were badly stained and most of the paint was chipped.
Even expert renovators would be nervous about making over this home as the floorboards had exposed on the stairs.

As Amy moved through her future home, it was clear just how much work it needed, as the kitchen lacked even basic appliances.
Just over a week later though, she revealed how she transformed her living room to a chic space with a minimalistic colour scheme.
Gone were the exposed floorboards, which has been covered with charcoal coloured carpet that spanned into the hallway.
Upping the comfort factor, she also added a soft grey sofa with countless scatter cushions and a fluffy rug beneath.
In the comments, the thrifty interior designer revealed that she managed to source some of her furniture on Facebook Marketplace.
On the other side of the room, she’d even added a mottled grey bench with a small TV and various scented candles.
Having got the bulk of the furniture in place, Amy then set about finding decorations to fill her space with.
Incredibly, the Tiktok user had found time to add delicate sheer curtains as well as other soft furnishings like scatter cushions and pastel pink blankets.
Amy was far from done though, as she’d also hung picture and a stunning elephant canvas from The Range – which had cost her just £14.99.
Unsurprisingly, her transformation has gone viral with the before and after videos racking up tens of thousands of views on Tiktok.
Recalling the transformation in the comments, she revealed that she been determined to make the home her own.
Thanking others for their kind comments, she wrote: “It’s hard work but I moved in within a week…dedication is key”
As the videos continued to go viral, others congratulated her on the rapid transformation. One impressed fan commented: “Wow looks beautiful, saw your before video so had to be nosey.”
Fellow council home owner Celene Francis was also stunned by the renovation, adding: “Looks amazing!”
Others offered Amy words of encouragement as they eagerly awaited an update on the property.
