BBC Breakfast presenter shake-up as host is ‘missing’ AGAIN from Saturday’s show

VIEWERS tuning into BBC Breakfast this morning were surprised to see one of the hosts was "missing" AGAIN from the show.

Instead, the popular BBC One show underwent a presenter shake up which saw another news anchor stepping in.

Viewers are used to see Charlie Stay, 61, hosting the show at the weekend alongside Naga Munchetty, 47.

Since making his BBC Breakfast debut in 2006, he has been a regular on the red sofa, and is known for hosting the programme from Thursday to Saturday every week.

However, fans hoping to kick off their weekend with the popular presenter were left confused, when another face was seen hosting the show instead.

But they need not worry, as filling in for Charlie is journalist Ben Thompson.

He joined the BBC Breakfast team in 2012, and often covers at the weekend when the main presenters are off.

The presenter, from Burnley, has had an impressive career - spanning over two decades - within the iconic broadcasting company.

Ben is also known for co-hosting Business Live, the BBC's daily business programme.

This isn't the first time Charlie has missed the show on Saturday, as he was also off the previous weekend and the one before.

Meanwhile, at the beginning of the year, BBC Breakfast launched their brand new extended shows this week in a schedule shake-up.

The programme now airs from 6am and runs until 9:30am, before handing over to Morning Live.

Breakfast presenter Jon Kay, 54, revealed the news on X - formerly Twitter, when the show returned after in the New Year,

He wrote: "It’s a big week for the #BBCBreakfast team. From now on, the programme will be 15 minutes longer Mon-Fri.

"Then at 0930 our friends and neighbours @BBCMorningLive take over - and their show has been extended, too! The UK’s two biggest morning shows just got BIGGER!"

Breakfast was previously broadcast from 6:00am to 9:15am, with Morning Live airing for 45 minutes until 10:00am.
