My BFF of 14 years even gets Christmas gifts for her cat but our friendship ended over what she gave me – it was so bad
A WOMAN has revealed that she and her best friend of 14 years are no longer pals, after their friendship ended over a Christmas gift.
So if you thought your Christmas present from your mate was bad, you’ll want to listen up.
Hailey Peters, a skincare, make-up and fashion fan, took to social media to open up about the festive fail.
The brunette beauty claimed that she had “no choice” but to end the friendship, as the gift was “so bad.”
As she shared her “Story time: How a 14 year friendship ended over a Christmas gift”, she wrote: “The gift was so bad I had no choice. Enjoy this story because it is unbelievable.”
She then said: “Everybody showing their awful Secret Santa gifts - I have a story for you.

“I stopped being friends with my best friend of 14 years over a Christmas gift.
“It sounds dramatic. I promise you, it's not.
“So me and my two friends had this gift exchange planned for months.
“I think we planned it in September, October, and it was for December, right around Christmas.
“I was always at my best friend's house, she had a little tree in her room and a million gifts under the tree for all of her friends - everybody she's ever known, her cat, her dog.
“So comes the day of the gift exchange. I got her $150 [£117] worth of things. I got her a bunch of things.
“That doesn't matter. I didn't expect the same thing back.”
Hailey then revealed what happened with the gift her friend gave her, as she added: “But she goes to get me my gift, and she goes, ‘oh, it's in the other room, hold on’.
“She was gone for 10 minutes, and I'm like, ‘what the hell's going on?’
“So she comes back in the room with a dirty white notebook in her hand.
“She hands me the notebook and goes, ‘because you love writing, this is for you.’
“I don't like writing. I've never publicly enjoyed writing. That's not even something somebody could say about me.
“I like reading. I'm not an author. This is a used notebook, obviously.”
Hailey looked inside and confirmed: “I opened the notebook, three or four pages are ripped out and on the top page, it was like, ‘To Hailey, love you, Merry Christmas’,
“I was so shook. I'm looking at it and I'm thinking, I'm getting pranked. I'm like, ‘where's the cameras?’
“This girl, my best friend of 14 years, has a million gifts for everybody under the tree.
“This gift exchange has been planned for months. If we don't wanna exchange gifts, I don't care.
“I don't really exchange gifts with most of my other friends. That's just something she planned to do. She wanted to do it.”
Hailey then revealed what happened next, as she claimed: “I left that notebook at her house. I never brought it home. I never saw it again.
“I just won't talk to you again. It's not the gift, it's the principal, effort in the friendship and stuff.
“And that wasn't the first time she was lacking in a friendship.
“It was obvious I cared more and so I'm done. That was it. That was the end of a 14 year friendship.
“And to this day, we don't speak. Ever. I was 19 when that happened and I'm 23 now.”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @haileypeters, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly gone viral and has since amassed a staggering 2.4 million views.
Social media users were stunned at the Christmas present debacle and took to the comments to express this.
One person said: “That’s wild.”
Another added: “Please tell me you took your gifts back.”
A third commented: “If she forgot she literally could’ve just lied and said it didn’t come in the mail yet.”
Meanwhile, someone else asked: “Do you think she forgot or something? This is so bizarre.”

In response, Hailey wrote: “The craziest part is that for weeks she was like “you’re gonna love your gift!”. No situation has ever confused me more.”
