A WOMAN has revealed how she managed to find a caravan on Facebook Marketplace for just £500 and she’s transforming it into her dream tiny home.
Hayley Rubery was amazed when she found the bargain buy, and has started renovating the inside.
On her @hayleyrubery_ account, she wrote: “We bought the £500 caravan that no-one wanted.
“Here’s what I’ve been up to for the past two weeks since we bought Joyce home.
“It’s been a busy two weeks and although I love DIY - I have no experience flipping a caravan so am very much learning as I go!
“It’s been a fun two weeks - I can’t wait to see what the next few weeks brings.”
More on renovations
Hayley revealed how she only has a budget of £500, so is doing most of the work herself and getting bargain buys from The Range and Wickes.
After picking up ‘Joyce’ she set about removing the cushions as she will add a “permanent bed or mattress.”
When she pulled these up, she found a damp spot in the wood that needed replacing, and headed to Wickes to get some affordable wood.
She added: “I also removed the table top drawer to make room for the bed that will go here.”
Hayley showed all of the cushions and wood she had ripped out to make way for some stylish new additions.
Flooring was the first thing on her list to sort, and she shared how she was going to go back to Facebook Marketplace.
She explained: “I looked at some flooring samples (but the company wanted £45 for p&p bumping the price up to £90 which is WAY too much considering my entire reno budget is £500.”
Next, Hayley removed the blinds and unsightly plastic decoration from the van, and started on paint samples.
She even headed to The Range to get a cute caravan sign for £2.99.
Despite all the hard work, she knows it’ll be worth it for “years of adventures.”
Over half a million people have liked her video, with one saying: “Love it! Can’t wait for the journey!”
Another added: “Oo I’m so invested!”
