While Chloe had managed to hold it together in front of Mack as she told him to leave, afterwards, she was seen sobbing into her sister Amy's arms.

In tonight's episode, Charity and Mack weren't discreet in hiding their rekindled romance, snogging in the middle of the village just as Chloe, Amy and Mack's sister Moira came out of the house.

Chloe saw red and marched towards the pair, before slapping Charity across the face and shouting: "Gloat more you b***h!"

After recovering from the slap, Charity said: "You've got a nifty right hook on ya I'll give you that. Why don't you go again? Give me your best shot."

As Chloe lunged for her again, Amy held her back and said: "Don't! She'll bray ya man!"

But Charity replied: "I won't, honestly, because if that's what you need to feel less dumped on by him, do it, hit me."

Chloe was dragged away back to her house, and later, Charity called round to try and establish peace.

Bringing up the fact Chloe had cheated with Mack behind her back previously, resulting in her getting pregnant with Reuben, she said: "Hang on Mrs Hard done by, facts!

"Me and Mack had words, we were on a teeny break but we were still living together, and you slept with him, true?

"And then you moved into our house, preggers, lied, also true."

When Chloe asked what her point was, she said: "That neither of us are squeaky clean in all this, it's one all, we're even and Mack's made his choice, me."

She then encouraged Chloe to focus on Reuben and co-parent with Mack civilly for their sake of their little boy.

While Chloe agreed, later when she was back with sister Amy, she revealed her true feelings and that she planned to leave the village with Reuben.

When Amy pointed out she had no money, Chloe took off the engagement ring Mack gave her and said she would sell it to get started.

She added: "It will be fun knowing that Mackenzie's going to ruin Charity's happy ever after, won't it?

"They're both going to be pretty miserable aren't they? When Mackenzie is constantly pining after Reuben, after the son he's never going to see again."

As the credits rolled, Emmerdale fans took to X - formerly Twitter to discuss the latest drama in the on-going love triangle.

One wrote: "charity and chloe both deserve better.. get rid of mack , hes the most toxic character"

Another added: "God I hate it when one parent acts like that. That child deserves the love of both their genetic parents, it doesn't matter if you've moved on to pastures new, it or that it might be difficult or messy, they deserve the truth. It always comes out in the end."

A third tweeted: "What a nasty little b****. Who are you really hurting, Chloe? It’ll be Ruben who misses out, not just Mack."

Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
