Arsenal news LIVE: Toney ‘really excited’ about Gunners transfer interest, Arteta AVOIDS FA ban, Palhinha latest

  • Gunners considering Serie A striker

With their need for goals up front, Arsenal are considering signing Salernitana striker Boulaye Dia.

It is thought that a deal of offer £13m plus Charlie Patino could be struck for the striker.

His current side are in a relegation battle and keen to move forward with players who are committed to the club.

Having expressed his desire to leave in the summer, Dia is seen as a player who is available if the right offer were made.

  • Huge game in store for Spaniard

Welcoming Brighton to The Emirates this weekend, the game is a huge challenge for The Gunners.

With a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool next up, Arsenal must beat Brighton if they want to be in a title race this season.

The Seagulls have a great recent record in North London, Arteta's side cannot afford to fall behind the pack at the top of the Premier League.

  • Gunners in need of change of approach

Three of the big transfers of the Mikel Arteta era have been from rivals in the Premier League.

The signings of Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kai Havertz have cost the total of £140m.

Both players signed from Man City have their injury problems since heading to The Emirates, while Havertz has failed to impress.

It is rare to see a Premier League side sell one of their best players to a rival.

Mikel Arteta seems to be just buying players who are surplus to requirements for valid reason.

  • The one that got away

Considering their need to bring in a striker who is a born finisher, did Arsenal miss a trick letting Folarin Balogun leave in the summer?

The 22-year-old striker scored 21 goals for Reims last season.

It could have saved the club a lot of money to give him a season in the first team squad to see what he could have produced.

Potentially, his sale was needed to try and balance the books with the transfers of Declan Rice and Kai Havertz.

  • Arsenal track Rangers Starlet

Mikel Arteta's side have joined a host of clubs sending scouts to watch Mason Munn.

The Rangers 17-year-old goalkeeper has attracted the interest of a number of Premier League clubs.

He has represented Northern Ireland at both under-17 and under-19 level and impressed.

  • Arsenal handed boost before Anfield trip

Having suffered a number of injuries recently, Gunners' fans were delighted to see Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey back in training today.

Partey shared clips of him back in gym on social media, sending fans into a frenzy.

Whether he will fit enough to be involved in the matchday squad when they take on Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool remains to be seen.

  • Former Gunner lays out striking problem for club

    Emanuel Adebayor told talkSPORT:

The problem with Arsenal is, even when I was there, I’d love to play football, to come in the middle and be part of the game because technically I’m not that bad. But now they have the same thing in Jesus. I think to win the league they need a striker who can just be in front of the goal, who doesn’t care how many touches of the ball he has during the game, he just cares about finishing.

  • Mikel big fan of Aston Villa lynchpin

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, is a huge admirer of Douglas Luiz.

The former Man City midfielder has impressed many with his performances for Unai Emery's side this season.

Due to how well both player and club are doing, it would take a huge offer to persuade them to part with the midfielder.

He signed a new contract with Villa in January when Arsenal were rumoured to be planning a move for him.

  • Toney transfer unlikely to happen

While Arsenal have been linked to a huge bid for Brentford striker Ivan Toney, in reality, the chances of this are slim.

The reason the club signed David Raya on loan was due to FFP and the club needing to stay within the guidelines.

Premier League rules also state that you cannot loan two players from the same parent club.

Therefore, in order to try and loan the striker, Arsenal would have to activate the option to buy Raya in his loan agreement.

  • Arsenal eye-up Santos striker

Having been relegated from the top-tier in Brazil, Santos striker Marcos Leonardo is looking to make a move from the club.

The Gunners are rumoured to have been interested in the player but no approach has been made as yet.

Santos, who’d been demanding at least €15m for the striker, could now decrease their demands because of their recent relegation.

It could prove an option for Arteta if there is not much money to spend in the transfer window.

  • Club need to spend in January window

Having invested so much in the summer, it remains to be seen just how much money Mikel Arteta will have to spend in January.

One area that needs strengthening is the forward line.

Without a recognised goalscorer, the club could miss many of its targets for the season.

Neither Jesus nor Nketiah seem capable of getting the 20+ goals needed to win a Premier League title.

  • Spaniard cleared of FA charge

Mikel Arteta has been cleared of a potential FA charge for his comments about officials and VAR following the Newcastle defeat.

It was thought the manager may receive a two-match ban for the incident.

However, the Arsenal manager has been cleared of wrongdoing and will face no further action.

After the game, Arteta said "I feel embarrassed. I have to now come in here and try to defend the club and please ask for help because it is an absolute disgrace that this goal is allowed."

  • Arteta needing win against bogey team

Arsenal welcome Brighton to The Emirates this weekend, well aware of their struggles against The Seagulls.

Brighton have won their last three visits to North London, including a 3-0 win in May 2023 which handed the title to Man City.

Roberto de Zerbi will be looking to continue his side's good form against The Gunners.

  • Gunners offered chance to add Prem player

Reports suggest that Arsenal were offered Fulham defensive midfielder Palhinha.

The player's availability was suggested to both Arsenal and Liverpool but both clubs were unsure because of his age.

Palhinha is only 28-years-old but there is no doubt Fulham would want a large transfer fee for the player.

This where clubs would be unsure and there is no potential resale value of the player.

Bayern Munich are rumoured to still be interested in the player and may make their move in the next transfer window.

  • Former Gunners set for reunion

Folarin Balogun has revealed he will be "happy" to see Alexandre Lacazette.

The two will face off as Monaco take on Lyon on Friday.

Balogun said: "I’m happy to see him [Lacazette] again on Friday because he gave me advice when we were both at Arsenal, and I was still a young player.

"Last season we talked a lot together when we met. He has a lot of experience.

"He is a clinical striker in front of goal, a good finisher.

"He is also capable of taking up space and making a connection with his teammates. I was inspired by his character."
