The MyScottishPower scheme is being rolled out to eligible households this month.

Any ScottishPower customers with a live gas and/or electricity supply and online account qualify.

Households can sign up through their online accounts, via the ScottishPower website or emails being sent inviting them to join.

ScottishPower is giving anyone who signs up an introductory £5 credit on their bill.

The credit will be paid within 14 days and will show as MyScottishPower on their statement.

Customers on a smart prepayment meter signing up will get the credit applied directly to their meter.

The firm said further perks will be rolled out in 2025 including "benefits, discounts and savings" although it hasn't said what these three perks will entail exactly.

Households on traditional prepayment meters do not qualify for the loyalty scheme.

Its launch comes after ScottishPower started offering smart meter customers half-price electricity on weekends.

Other energy firm loyalty schemes

ScottishPower is the latest energy firm to launch a loyalty scheme in a bid to draw in customers.

Here is what some of the other major firms offer.

Octopus Energy

Octopus Energy launched its "Octoplus" rewards scheme last October, as exclusively revealed by The Sun.

Customers with an electric smart meter and paying via direct debit or those with a smart prepayment meter can sign up.

Households get paid to join in the firm's "Savings Sessions", rewarding those who use less electricity at times of peak demand.

They can also earn points by spinning a virtual "Wheel of Fortune" after submitting meter readings.

Those signed up to the scheme can also get free Greggs coffee, discounted Odeon cinema tickets and National Trust days out.

The OVO Beyond scheme rewards customers for using energy during off-peak times when there is less pressure on the network.

Households can also get discounts on home tech like smart thermostats and money off having solar panels installed.
