KIERAN TRIPPIER has given Gareth Southgate a major Euro 2024 injury scare after being subbed off after 36 minutes in a bizarre friendly.
The Magpies jetted off to Australia for a controversial post-season friendly against Tottenham.
Trippier, 33, captained the team Eddie Howe selected for the Toon Down Under.
However, disaster struck as Newcastle went behind after 32 minutes before Trippier was taken off the pitch following 36 minutes off action to be replaced by Jacob Murphy.
The England squad, named by Southgate yesterday, was due to meet up ahead of a warm up friendly against Bosnia & Herzegovina on May 29.
But Trippier's injury scare may leave Southgate with a real selection headache.
Southgate named just four natural full-backs in his provisional 33-player Three Lions training squad; Kyle Walker, Luke Shaw Trent Alexander-Arnold and Trippier.
But Shaw is a fitness gamble due to not featuring for Manchester United since February, while Alexander-Arnold is preferred in midfield by Southgate.
