Casualty: Legendary character returns as hospital shaken by horror car crash

SHOCK moments in the upcoming episode of Casualty will see a legendary character returning to the emergency ward just as docs face the results of a horrifying car crash.

The Sun has rounded up all the biggest spoilers for this week's instalment of the hit BBC medical drama.

The cop had previously been rumbled for domestic violence after Charlie treated his wounds and found a fragment of his wife's tooth inside one of them.

A few of the hospital workers had previously suspected him of abuse and the senior nurse reported Harry to the police, who arrested him for questioning.

An upcoming episode sees him chase her down as Mel tries to flee by car.

Harry calls her promising that he is going to change, but the terrified woman does not answer the phone.

As he catches up to her vehicle Mel swerves and ends up crashing down an enbankment.

The frightened policeman decides against calling for help and leaves her for dead.

The Holby City Hospital's clinical lead was the first to suspect Harry of domestic abuse, and is called into a meeting after his arrest.

She defends her decisions in relation to the treatment of the cop and his wife, and is eventually cleared for work.

However, she is left worried for Mel's safety.

Zoe makes a comeback

Meanwhile, an old favourite ends up back on the ward as actress Sunetra Sarker makes a reappearance for Charlie's final scenes.

Zoe Hanna is welcomed back into the thick of it for a special episode, leaving old friend Dylan in shock.

She is expected to star in two episodes.

The long-standing nurse is left concerned when he gets a call saying that Mel has gone missing.

He tries to give her a ring, not realising that Harry has her phone.

After leaving his wife in a ditch the cop rushed to a road traffic collision.

He hears the phone go off but ignores it while trying to deal with the pile up.

However, while he is distracted by the incoming call, the civilian who caused the crash attempts to make a getaway and accidentally drives into a gas bottle.

This causes a huge explosion, badly injuring everyone in the vicinity of the blast.

Stevie is left to deal with the aftermath of the horrible accident, leaving her overwhelmed.

She becomes triggered while working on shrapnel wounds, which remind her of a pipe bomb blast she witnessed as a child.

When the man who accidentally caused the explosion is brought into the ward, the jumpy consultant thinks she sees him hiding a knife.

She pounces on Kyle and goes through his pockets, only to discover what she really spotted was a chewing gum wrapper.

She is embarrassed and left wondering if she is in a fit state to work after all.

Charlie is left in harm's way

Charlie keeps trying to contact Mel, but when Harry is brought in as one of the victims of the gas explosion, he realises the cop has her phone.

This makes him even more concerned about her disappearance, and he attempts to interrogate the injured policeman.

He then runs into Kyle in a hospital corridor, and notices that he has stolen drugs from the pharmacy.

In horrifying scenes Stevie's former suspicions are proved correct as Kyle pulls out a weapon and stabs Charlie.

The shaken medic starts to wonder if she is cut out for her job.

She speaks to Faith about her struggles, but their conversation is cut short when she gets the news that the results of her previous meeting are out.
