My daughter, 35, is the ‘love of my life’ – we share a bed & bath water, I’d marry a male version of her in a heartbeat
FROM enjoying a shopping trip together to divulging in afternoon tea, many of us enjoy spending quality time with our mothers.
But it's fair to say that the majority would draw a line at sharing bath water and a bed together...well, that's where Sunhe, 55 and her 35-year-old daughter Angelica, who are from Las Vegas, US, differ.
In a clip from TLC's reality show sMothered, Sunhe caused quite a stir online after admitting she could "be without a man" as long as she has her daughter - and that she'd marry a "male version" of her daughter in a "heartbeat."
"My mum is the closest person to me in my life, ever - even after life, she's going to be the closest person to me," Angelica says.
And it seems that Sunhe felt the same as she recalled the moment she welcomed her precious daughter into the world.
"When I first saw Angelica, she looked like an angel. I said, 'she is going to be my everything,'" she remembers.
She went on to explain how she had to be "strong" for her daughter because Angelica's father, Sunhe's first husband, hadn't been in their lives since she was six months old.
If I could find a man version of Angelica, I would marry them in a heartbeat
Sunhe
"I had to step up in the absence of him not being in her life, to be her father, as well as her mother, her sister, her friend," Sunhe says.
An emotional Angelica, who admits she "couldn't picture" her life without her mum, adds: "I don't know where I'd be, who I'd be as a person, if it wasn't for her."
The mother and daughter duo, who say on their Instagram bio they're' “spiritually connected,” do everything together, with Angelica even seen touching up her mum's toenails as she lays in bed.
"We've always lived together," explains Angelica. "I have never lived with anybody else."
Sunhe chimes in: "I could be without a man if I have her. I'd be completely happy just with Angelica with me."
However, while Angelica points out that she needs a man "for obvious reasons," Sunhe continues: "She is the love of my life....if I could find a man version of Angelica, I would marry them in a heartbeat."
The comments on the show caused quite the reaction from viewers online, with many branding the extremely close bond between the pair "weird" and "cringey."
"That's weird...your child should not fill the void in a personal relationship," wrote one.
A second commented: "Something about this just screams unhealthy co-dependence? And the sharing bath water? Just cringey."
Meanwhile, a third penned: "I love my daughter but their relationship definitely crosses the line."
The duo previously revealed how they also sleep in the same bed and use the same bath water.
"If the water is still hot, we will share the bath water. She'll take a quick bath, then I'll go right after her," Angelica explains on the show.
When she goes into my bath water after I've bathed, it shows much trust and a bond that is unexplainable
Sunhe
"She always goes first and I know it makes her happy."
Sunhe continues: "When she goes into my bath water after I've bathed, it shows much trust and a bond that is unexplainable. It's amazing."
Speaking of bedtime, she adds: "I'm the little spoon and she's the big spoon."
Angelica, who has since met partner Jason, spoke to The List about how her partner feels about their unique bond.
"I think that they say what any normal man would say who's in a relationship with a "sMothered" gal," she commented.
"I mean, they probably wish that maybe they had more time with us, but this just, kind of, [is] how it is with both of us.
"They have to share their time. And obviously, our time together is the most important."
Sunhe added: "It is the most important. Absolutely. We are the priority."
It comes after fan favourite Angelica revealed in a recent Instagram post that she ‘declined’ to return for season 5 of the show.
