Parents are racing to supermarkets to nab £5 fancy dress costumes for World Book Day – including Elsa & Harry Potter
WHILE World Book Day is a firm favourite amongst children, it can be a day filled with dread for panicking parents.
The annual celebration, which encourages kids to dress up as their most loved characters from children's literature, falls on Thursday 7th March - so it's best to be prepared.
But if you don't want to fork out a small fortune on dressing your little one up, then no fear...because several supermarkets have slashed the price of some of their most popular costumes.
Whether your child is eager to dress up as Willy Wonka, Harry Potter or even Elsa, the likes of Tesco and Matalan have got you sorted - and all for as little as just £5.
One eagle-eyed shopper named Georgia Hughes rushed online to money-saving Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK after spotting the unmissable deal.
She shared a snap from her local Matalan branch and penned: "Matalan £5 offer for 2 days if stocks last but 20% off on 21 Feb."

Along with Elsa and Harry Potter, various other costumes including the Hulk and Batman had been heavily reduced in the sale.
And instead of retailing at £18.50, they've currently been discounted to just £5 - meaning savvy shoppers can save themselves an impressive £13.50.
Another delighted shopper was Becca Stephens, who noted how Tesco has also jumped on the World Book Day discounts.
Alongside an image of the huge selection of fancy dress outfits in store, including Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan of Jessie from Toy Story, she penned: "World book day costumes in Tesco 25% off at the moment Willy Wonka is £7.50!"
The posts have since garnered thousands of likes and comments between them, with many pointing out how they're eager to get their hands on one.
"When you're next at Tesco can you look for a Willy Wonka one," a social media user asked, tagging a friend.
A second penned: "Fancy a trip to Tesco in my lunch break?"
"If you go before me can you get Wonka please," asked a third who tagged a pal.
Meanwhile, a fourth noted: "We need a trip to Matalan tomorrow."
Another enthused: "They have harry potter with the glasses!"
And a further chimed in: "You have to go to Matalan!"
