‘Normal’ Kate and Wills never miss a school event and queue for the tombola, source claims

THEY might be senior royals but the Prince and Princess of Wales are ''like a normal mum and dad'' when it comes to their children's school events, a source has claimed.

Kate and William are reported to be ''hands-on'' parents who never miss an event at the swanky Lambrook School in Berkshire where their three kids Prince GeorgePrincess Charlotte and Prince Louis are pupils.

According to Hello! magazine, Kate and Wills, both 41, take part in all school activities and even 'queued up' ''for the tombola'' in a recent fundraising drive.

Although mum Kate is known to do the school run every day, a source revealed that both parents are heavily involved with Lambrook, where the children will learn scuba diving and judo.

The source added the couple will find a way to slip into events discreetly and despite their busy schedules will almost always be in attendance.

''The day after Kate's carol service [at Westminster Abbey], it was the school Christmas fair and they were all there, as they were the previous year.

''I saw them queueing up for tombola tickets like everyone else. They really act like a normal mum and dad.''

The source said that the duo attended the school's carol service at Eton College Chapel and sat alongside the headmaster, joining in with all the songs to celebrate the festive season.

It's not the first time Kate and Wills have been praised for their ''relatable'' style of parenting - and here's how the 41-year-old mum gets her kids ready for school.

According to one source close to the Royal Family, the Princess of Wales lets her kids have their own say in their school accessories and supplies.

The source revealed: “To get the Wales children prepared, the Princess has been known to take the children as a treat to Peter Jones department store the weekend before shopping for new stationery for the autumn term.

“To give the children independence and help with learning the value of things, Kate lets the children go to choose their pencils, pens, colouring and writing pads, and pencil cases.

“Charlotte is also allowed to choose some new hair accessories.

“The young princess is still 'in love with pink'.''

Gets them to pack their own bags

As well as being independent, Kate also ensures her tots don’t rely on staff.

''The children are also asked to help to pack their school bags the night before and hang their new uniforms out, before an early night's sleep.

“The number one piece of advice Carole [Kate's mum] imparted to her eldest was the value of discipline and routine from the start.

“Kate has taken on the importance of structure with her own three and teaching them politeness.

“But as parents everywhere will understand, getting youngsters into a school routine after weeks of waking up late, no homework, and no uniforms, can sometimes take a bit of effort and patience.

“Something Princess Catherine has in spades when it comes to her gorgeous family.”
