PARENTS who indulge in the Elf on the Shelf tradition have to try and outdo themselves, and their elves' antics, every year.
But one mum who tried to blow her kids away with a new elf setup has been blasted as "disgusting" and "cruel", after taking things a step too far.
Cece took to TikTok to share a video of "Elf on the Shelf day 6", as she set up the elf in the corner of the bath, with a pretend fishing rod.
After running the bath, she tipped out an entire bag of goldfish into it.
"Don't mind me, just fishing!" she wrote on a note which she then taped to the wall.
Cece then turned the camera to show the fish swimming frantically round in the water, before focusing on the elf's cheeky face.

"Let's go fishing!" she added in the video caption.
But people in the comments section were more concerned about what was going to happen to the fish when the stunt was done.
"This is actually disturbing," one raged.
"How careless and selfish.
"Let’s just kill a bunch of fish for elf on the shelf - DISGUSTING!"
"Absolutely disgusting that you guys just buy fish for an elf on the shelf idea!" another agreed.
"Cruel to the goldfish for a stupid elf on the shelf act," a third commented.
"Could've easily used fake fish, this is disgusting and cruel," someone else sighed.
"Damn, so you had to martyr 30 fish for the stupid a*s elf on the shelf?" another questioned.
"Wait I’m actually so sad what happened to the fish?" someone else wrote.
"Are the fish okay?" another asked.
To which Cece replied: "My sister's turtles will get them".
That response didn't go down well with people either, with one calling Cece "sick".
"The gasp i gasped,"another admitted.
"PLEASE TELL ME you conditioned the water first," someone else said.
As another responded: "There’s no way, the bath is still running when she put them in".
And someone else agreed Cece had gone "too far" with the stunt.
However, other people praised Cece for the "creative" idea.
"THIS IS ANOTHER LEVELL," one wrote.
"Brooo I can’t wait to do one next year," another said.
"This was a good one!"
"I can’t wait to be this extra as a mum," someone else wrote.
As another praised: "A+ Mama, you killed it!
