I’ll have a C-section to avoid my nephew’s birthday… his mum’s on Universal Credit by choice but now scrounges off us

A WOMAN has revealed that she wants to have a C-section to avoid giving birth on the same day as her nephew's birthday.

Families all have their own problems to go through - but this mum-to-be has finally had enough.

Taking to social media, she asked if she was being unreasonable to have a C-section instead of a natural birth to avoid her kid's birthday falling on the same day as her nephew's birthday to avoid his mum scrounging off them.

The woman revealed that she and her husband's sister rarely got on for a multitude of reasons - but it seemed money was the main one.

Taking anonymously to Mumsnet, she wrote: "My SIL and me have had a lot of animosity over the years as she is constantly comparing herself financially to me and my husband.

"We both worked full time in reasonably well paid jobs but after the birth of her son (she) has gone part time and on universal credit (her partner works full time)."

She revealed her husband had brought up his sister as their dad died when they were young - and that included looking after her financially.

She has a history of pushing the boundaries I set and then stating that 'I am being too highly strung.'

Mum-to-be

The mum-to-be said there was a pattern of them lending her money, only for her to not pay it back.

Additionally, she revealed the sister had pushed lots of her boundaries in the past, and wasn't thrilled by the prospect of having to share a special day with her and her son.

She continued: "She has a history of pushing the boundaries I set and then stating that 'I am being too highly strung.'"

The woman then shared a few examples of the times her sister-in-law pushed her buttons.

She added: "Smoking in our flat when I expressly said not to.

I’m a stay at home mum and make up to £2.3k a week with my side hustle

"Taking display items off of shelves and giving them to her so when I told her not to and them getting broken.

"Final straw was we got hacked and money stolen and my husband in a panic transferred money to her for safekeeping whilst three days later she then asked to keep it as we 'clearly have more money'."

The mum said her daughter was due the same week as her nephew's birthday - which she wanted to avoid as it would bring on years of misery.

"Is it stupid to go for a C section just to avoid having a child on the same day?" she asked.

"I just know if they share a birthday it will be endless years of SIL asking to share birthday parties (but we will b expected to pay) and endless snide comments."

The comment section of the post flooded with parents sharing their opinions.

Many claimed she was being ridiculous to go through a surgery instead of putting her foot down with her sister-in-law.

One person wrote: "Get a back bone and tell her no!"

Another commented: "YABU, why would you chose unnecessary surgery. Just don’t see them anymore. Sounds like she’s only negative influence in your life."

"You would have surgery to avoid the incredibly unlikely scenario that their cousin is born on the same day? You are nuts," penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: "Do no put yourself through major surgery just to get one over on this silly girl."

"She may still ask for joint parties whether it’s the same day, a week out or even a few weeks out. Just say no. Don’t consider it in your birth plans,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: "Whether your children are born on the same day it’s likely they will be born close together - so SIL could still ask to share, Learn to say no and mean it."
