I transformed my entire grotty kitchen from drab to fab all thanks to a £9 B&Q buy
THE kitchen is the heart of the home, sadly though - it doesn’t always get the love it deserves.
One woman has transformed the space in her council house home with a product from B&Q – and it cost her just £9.
If your kitchen is in desperate need of a refurb, you might want to check out the content creator’s video.
Tiktok user @ourhouse4499 has showed off her impressive renovation, with the mum-of-three transforming her once dilapidated council house.
Like many rental properties, it was in desperate of an update with peeling paint, bare floors and built in units that had seen better days.
Instead of relying on the local authorities to fix it, the influencer decided to roll up her sleeves and renovate the family home herself.

Though refurbishing your home can cost thousands of pounds, this thrifty mum found plenty of items on the high street to transform the tired space.
However, it was a £9 product from B&Q that really caught viewers’ attention during the renovation video – as it totally revamped the old fashioned kitchen.
Rather than paying a small fortune for new countertops, the content creator used a vinyl with a wood effect to bring them up to date.
Application was easy as the plastic had a self-adhesive back, meaning the Tiktoker only had to smooth it down and then tidy the edges with a small exacto knife.
Immediately, her space felt brighter with the wood effect vinyl bouncing light around her kitchen – unlike the old mottled cabinets.
Despite this major improvement, the thrifty mum wasn’t done yet as she had more cheap and cheerful ways to make over her home.
This included using a £35 white paint to cover her old cabinets, hiding decades of scuff marks and scratches.
She wasn’t done changing up the built in units though, as the Tiktok creator removed the handles and coated them in a matt black spray paint (£7).
Finally, she touched up the grout in the kitchen with a black pen bought from Shein for just £1.
For those that haven’t done the maths, the entire renovation cost her just £52 and her followers were understandably impressed.
As fans showered her with compliments in the comments, many even said that they would be using some of her thrifty buys in their own space.
One even wrote: “I love this, that black tile pen looks great gonna try it on my ugly white kitchen tiles lol.”
Another revealed that she had wanted to repaint the cabinet handles, after seeing the short video.
She wrote: “I was gonna say black handles on the doors would be nice but then seen you spraying them…lovely”
If you are tempted to copy the Tiktoker’s style, you are in luck as the majority of these products are still available at B&Q.
