Stacey Solomon’s co-host reveals 2-second check to see if extractor fan is working & toothbrush hack to prevent mould
STACEY Solomon’s Sort Your Life Out is back on TV screens and sharing top home hacks for with families around the UK.
On tonight’s show, Stacey and her team transformed the chaotic home of the blended Aphabhai-Heer family-of-five - and had a hack for preventing bathroom mould.
While Stacey challenged the family to declutter half their belongings, which included a staggering 6,568 clothing items, the experts helped clean their Coventry-based home.
Cleaning professional Iwan Carrington had a top tip for finding out if your bathroom’s extractor fan is actually working.
If it's not, it could be the reason behind mould building up in your home.
Iwan explained: “With busy households often you’ll get a lot of build up on the extractor fan and if this isn’t working efficiently this can lead to things like mildew and mould problems.”

He shared how there is a quick test you can do to check.
All you need to do is take a single sheet of tissue and place it against the fan.
Iwan continued: “If it’s working efficiently, it will hold this into place.”
In the case of homeowner Sheeny and husband Sohan, the tissue didn’t stay up, meaning the extractor fan wasn’t working properly.
Thankfully Iwan shared how you simply need to give it a good clean.
Firstly you need to remove the cover so you can see the dust inside.
Looking at the Aphabhai-Heer family’s dust build-up inside, he exclaimed: “Woah look at that.”
Cleaning pro Iwan continued: “I’m going to use some hot soapy water and an old toothbrush to get in between the vent.
“And then with a sponge remove any excess dust.
“You can pop this back on - yey look at that! That is not going anywhere.”
Back at the warehouse, Sheeny was forced to cut down on 50 per cent of her belongings.
Home transformation
TV host Stacey, helped this week by husband Joe Swash, also helped the family make better use of the space in their lounge by making zones.
They also created a playroom for the kids and Stacey showed how buttons can be used for storing earring pairs together.
One month on from their home being transformed, Sheeny said: “We cook together, we eat together at our dining table.
“It’s changed the dynamic of our family.
