Yuri, who works as an influencer in LA, often shares videos showcasing her gran’s "flawless and glowy glass skin" that has been achieved without Botox or fillers.

Thankfully Toshiko has not been gate-keeping her favourite products and meals behind her age-defying looks.

Yuri told Business Insider that her grandma started taking care of her skin since she was 20, and has been on the mission for 60 years.

Here are her top tips…

Eating fermented foods

Toshiko insists that the food she eats plays the most important role in her youthful appearance.

She eats a large breakfast every day and tends to cook most meals at home.

Yuri revealed that her grandma swears by eating fermented foods and vegetables, including miso, natto and kimchi.

And there are numerous health benefits that go hand-in-hand with fermented food, aside from benefiting your skin.

Researchers shared how fermented food, such as sauerkraut or yoghurt drink kefir, are abundant in antioxidants, and are thought to reduce levels of a key enzyme called ACE2.

Taking daily supplements

Yuri revealed that for 20 years Toshiko has had a daily shake consisting of soybean protein powder and vitamin C powder from a Japanese brand called Miki, mixed with prune extract.

I look younger now than a decade ago… I skip 2 skincare steps, people think they help spots but it's the opposite

She also consumes Miki's Eco 37 supplement, which is avocado oil.

Dr Aslam told The Sun that an antioxidant, vitamin C is crucial for immune function.

This is because it helps drive immune cells to the site of bugs – as well as supporting healthy bones, teeth and blood vessels.

Dr Aslam said: “Vitamin C may have a role in protecting against the common cold.”

Studies have also linked vitamin C to the prevention of cancer, heart disease, cataracts, diabetes and Parkinson’s.

HOW YOUR DIET CAN CLEAR UP YOUR SKIN

Acne and cystic acne is increasingly becoming more common for women in their 30s, skincare enthusiast Andrea Suarez - known as Dr Dray.

Hormones and lifestyle factors can be big drivers behind this - stopping and starting certain oral contraceptive pills, pregnancy, lactation, stress and diet.

She recommended you stay away from processed and sugary foods that spike your blood sugar in order to keep acne at bay. Instead, opt for fruit and veg, whole grains and foods rich in antioxidants.

Andrea said a lot of people might panic if they get cystic acne, buy lots of different products and cycle through them without giving them time to work.

She encouraged viewers to see dermatologist to treat it.

Staying out of the sun

Yuri revealed that her grandma “doesn’t go outside” in the sun, and this keeps her skin looking young.

Despite what you might have thought, a tan does not protect your skin from the sun's harmful effects, the NHS says.

"UV rays, which come from the sun, lead to premature ageing, wrinkles and sunspots," Freya Moore, an aesthetician at Skin & Sanctuary, said.

Overtime, UV breaks down collagen and elastin in the skin, which are both essential proteins that maintain skin's firmness and elasticity.

"So it's important to limit your time in the sun, or keep in the shade, so you keep your skin looking youthful," she said.

Skincare regime for 60 years

Toshiko has followed a daily skincare regime using products from Japanese brand Manavis for the past 15 years.

She swears by four products in their range, their £34 Emollient Lotion, £34 Whitening Essence, £29 Restore Gel and their £39 Wrinkle Gel.

In addition to this, she had applied Nerium Age Defying Night Cream every day for 10 years after her nightly bath.

For foundation, she opts for La Prairie foundation as it’s “very light on the skin.”

However, it certainly doesn’t come cheap.

The luxury foundation can cost between £150 to £225 and can be bought from high end stores including Harrods and Harvey Nichols.

The granddaughter and grandmother tutorials often get lots of attention with over 1.8 million people ‘liking’ them.

And thousands comment too.

One wrote: “Honestly at this point, y’all have GREAT genes. I don’t think it’s the products. Gorgeous girlies.”

A third said: “The ‘slap it on and go’ method definitely works for her!”
